Resizing Images to Upload as Attachment

If you use PhotoShop or a program to resize your images:

1)  600 pixels wide
2)  Save for Web or Devices

If you don't have a program or that program is irritating and doesn't seem to be making your images smaller, even though you're telling it to, a wonderfully easy online resizer can be found at Shrink Pictures.  There is no registering to use the online resizer and you can remove your photo after you've downloaded it (or it is removed within 2 hours).

To resize an image and save it to your computer before uploading to the forum:

1)  Choose File to resize
2) Click 600 Pixels
3) Resize
4) You can either Download this picture Now or Send processed images via email

These are the allowed image types:  jpg, jpeg, gif, png

What are the size of the image you're trying to upload?

Delete them out of the que before you try to reupload them.  If you try now, the new resized ones should be the ones to upload.

That should be fine.  I'll work on this tomorrow....do some more testing and asking.

After some testing this morning, the maximum file size was incorrect.

The chosen 600 width maximum lets us view the image after clicking the thumbnail without it being too large on our screen.

The byte size was changed so we could upload a large enough file so it CAN be seen on our screens at the 600 width.  Some of your images may still be able to be uploaded if they're larger than 600 wide, but are below the maximum file size...but they will still be viewable as a 600 wide image when we click on the thumbnail.

The maximum file sizes have been corrected in the tutorial (with bytes, KB, and MB so you know what they are when looking at your file on your computer).

Below the tutorial is a somewhat of a File Resizer tutorial if you are having problems resizing.

I hope this solves the problems of uploading attachments!!!

Do you have to click on something to get the "upload attachments" button to come up? When I go to add reply it only gives me the option of adding with a URL.

The button is actually BELOW the white reply window...like in the very first pic of the tutorial.  You can enlarge the photo by clicking on it.

The only thing that is below my white reply box is the smileys and options box. Any ideas?

How about now?

You must be out of moderation status before you can upload attachments.....or we would be bombarded with spammers uploading, not just posting links (these are deleted before they can hit the forum because of moderation).

My photo is 285x240, 28KB and it is still saying 'invalid file type'. It is a .jpg.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

I (sorta) have a farm in Africa.
