Hey, I'm from the hills of Northeast Tennessee. The state is so long and has three distinct cultures and musical types, you have to tell which part you're from ;)   I'm in the bluegrass hillbilly part ;)   I looked on a map to see where Suzanne is and I'm 4 hours directly south of her heh.

Dreams are necessary to life.

I'm in Newburgh IN, close to Evansville. Really close to Henderson, KY. On the Ohio River.

I've been to Texas. I had family there, when I was married anyway. I've been in Dallas, Fortworth, Brady, Fredricksburg, and San Antonio TX. Texas is awesome. It was a 22 hr drive from here, tho. When we visted the Enchanted Rock, I saw a “beware of rattlesnakes “sign and would'nt take one more step forward!! I spent one night/day in a cabin on a sheep farm. I survived a dust storm in Brady. It was cool seeing cows, and sheep in the road and tumbleweeds rolling along.

Life is too important to be taken too seriously.

I live in Baytown Texas - its SE of Houston.  We have one acre of land - live in a 26 year old house - been here for 8 years - finally getting around to doing some home improvement projects.  I was raised in Highlands Tx where my parents still live.  I was raised on a farm - my parents had chickens, milk cow, turkeys, ducks, geese, quail and hogs.   I'm a country girl at heart.  I grow a garden every spring and like to spend time outdoors when its not scorching hot or freezing cold.

Look forward to getting to know everyone here at Chickens in the Road forum.  I have been reading Suzanne's blog for close to an year now.  I fell in love with her blog when she wrote about the old farm house and her recipes were so delicious looking....

Looking forward to the future and what 2009 has to bring for Chickens in the Road.

Canning and dehydrating will now become a part of my life.

Hello everyone...I am new to the website and I love it.  I currently live in Eddyville Ky, however, I am originally from Newburgh, IN. where I lived most of my life.  Eddyville in located on Lake Barkley and I now live in my retirement near the water and in a very wooded area.  I enjoy gardening, flowers and have a pretty large flower and herb garden.  My hobbies also include fishing, golf and enjoying my grandbabies (some are not babies anymore).  I also work on an as needed basis for a local physician and enjoy that very much as I have always worked in the health field.

Smile Hello to all the BCFF (Best Chicken Friends Forever!)

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio....moved to Crestline, Cal. (San Bernadino County) when I was 13!  Lived there for 1 year and moved back to Ohio, finished school and married the cute fella who kept buying parts from the Chevy Garage where I worked in the office!

We, together with his parents, managed our own Holstein Dairy Farm for the next 10 years.  Our daughter and son were born in Ohio.  Then my husband and I purchased our own Dairy Farm in Edinboro PA.  We own 200 acres, but no longer have the Dairy.

We still raise a few head of Holstein/Hereford Beef Cows <-----they keep the pastures mowed down all summer and the barn warm in the winter!  Most of our land is rented out to a local dairy farmer.  We bale hay to sell to all the "Horsey" people in the area, and feel previleged to be caretakers of some of the most beautiful rolling farm land in NW Pennsylvania.

My husband and I are both retired from jobs in the private sector.   I just love this Blog and am thankful for Suzanne McMinn - she is a true American Pioneer in the New AGE!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR....GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPINESS TO EVERYONE!  2009

Liz in PA  ♥♥♥

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

I am in northern CA near Sacramento.  Born here and lived here continuously except for short bouts in TX, KS and Taiwan with first husband in military.  We live in the city limits with a half acre lot backed up to a creek.. I call it Country in the City.

Living with Miracles and Mayhem at the Buck 'N Run Ranch,

I was going to just say what state I live in, but after reading all the interestiing posts of where you all have lived I'll add my 2 cents...

I was born in Germany and immigrated when I was 2 years old with my parents and older brother. We first lived in Ohio, then for a few years in Vienna, WV and back to Ohio. Fell in love with WV during that time. I married in Ohio and we honeymooned at Blackwater Falls, WV (couldn't afford anything else--got a cabin for $12.00 a night!). We lived in Ohio where our two sons were born for 8 years, then in New Hampshire for almost 9 years and on to Virginia where we are now and have been for 16 years. We're in northern VA, Fairfax County--the Washington DC area. When DH retires in 5 to 7 years we hope to buy some land (an old farm actually) in western PA or southeastsern Ohio.

Leah:  I think we are the closest to each other in this part of the country.  New Albany is about a 5-7 mile drive to Louisville, just across the bridge.  For some reason I kind of know where you are.  I have some family in Marengo, IN and they do go to Evansville to shop sometimes.  When I worked for the school system we would go to Evansville for meetings sometimes.

I lived in South Carolina for four years.  My then-husband was in the Navy--we lived in Charleston.  Or actually Goose Creek (for one year--loved the name of that town!) and North Charleston for a couple more years.  I lived in Sanford, North Carolina (Raleigh area) for a year and a half, too.  The Carolinas are beautiful.

Clover made me do it.

I've lived in the Charleston, WV area all my life.  I work in Charleston (two blocks from the Farmer's Market) and live in Dunbar.  Ulli and Bee, I was in Vienna, WV on Saturday.  My 88 year old aunt died last week and the funeral was Saturday.

Well, does the state of frazzle count? lol

Actually, it looks like I'm the first Canadian to stick up her hand in this thread (and yes, I know we're not a State, but it seemed silly to start a new thread). Proud Albertan here! I've been reading Suzanne's blog for some time, but for some reason I didn't click that there were active forums until she posted looking for moderator help. Now I'm in here numerous times a day. If I get nothing else accomplished this week, I know why? Smile

And it appears that I am a neighbor of Amanda's.  As the crow flies, I am about a mile (?) from your location!  From the top of the hill behind my house we look down on the airport (which is on top of another hill).  Anyway, if you go straight north a bit from where I-77 and I-79 split, you are in the neighborhood.
