Big Sky Country: Montana.  We're about 60 miles (as the crow fies, 90 miles driving) northeast of Billings.

We're fortunate enough to be in the foothills of the Bull Mountains.

My husband and I are both originally from Chicago, but have lived in Michigan (near Detroit), then Tennessee (just south of Nashville).  We had moved for his job, but moved to Montana cause that's where we wanted to be!

I currently live in North Dakota by the Canadian border.  This by way of Illinois – near the Quad Cities (someone mentioned Quad Cities); Hawaii; Arizona; Florida; Minnesota; Michigan (the dreaded Detroit); and New York.  Hopefully I'll stay put, but I must confess to a hankering for West Virginia after looking at all of Suzanne's lovely photos!

West VA is a wonderful place!  I personally feel nice and secure in these ole mountains.  BTW:  What is the significance of the screen-name?  It's kinda funny!Wink

ScreamingSardine,  I see you had the same impression of Detroit I did!  Where did you live in Illinois?

Rileysmom – I lived in a little town called Geneseo.  Also went to MacMurray College in Jacksonville.  Did you live in Detroit?

MsBolt – I chose my screen name after watching a documentary that featured sea life.  They filmed a bunch of sardines, and many of them had their mouths open like they were screaming.  My son and I laughed at the thought of screaming sardines.

I am from S. Michigan, about half an hour south of Jackson. I grew up in Lansing, and Carson City.  I have to say,  I love Michigan but, oh, to live in Tennessee or W. Virgina!

I am currently living just outside of Columbia, South Carolina. I am originaly from upstate New York, a tiny town called Sherburne, between Binghamton and Syrucuse. My husband is from Germany, the Mosel region. Needless to say the south was not our first choice of where to live and we hope to be out of here as soon as possible. Hopefully we will be able to move further north maybe Virginia or West Virginia. Is there anyone in the Columbia area here? Would love to get to know some locals.

Shannan,  I have lived in Columbia all my life, and I work just across from the high school on Sumter Hwy.  About as close as it gets to you.  How long have you been here?  Have you experienced SC in August?

I have lived in SC for a total of 9 year though not all in one shot, we moved back here 4 years ago. I was right you work across from my old high school, like I said in another post you work about 6 miles from where I live. SC in August is one of the reasons that I can not stay here forever me and that kind of heat just do not get along. Smiley Puppy Even though I have lived here for a while I do not know many people so it is nice to find someone local on here, it is very nice to meet you JeannieB.

ScreamingSardine- We lived a little northish of Detroit, across the street from Yates Cider Mill.  That was cool until fall traffic! The town was called Sterling Heights, I think. No one went into Detroit if they could help it!!!

In illinois, I was born in Evanston but was raised in Burbank.  My mom still lives there.

Hi everyone, I was born and raised in northern Michigan.  I'm doing some world travelling but plan on going back to set up a homestead of at least ten acres.  I'm going to build my own house and live off the land.  I started looking at poly tunnels to extend the growing season.  This forum looks like it will help a lot.
