I am in the minority as we live in Western Australia. Very dry over this side of the country while over in the Eatern States it is very wet and flooding in places as you may have heard by now. ery devestating for a lot of people and the clean up will likely take several years.
We live on a 5 acre property way down south in the state, have ahuge vegetable garden and an orchard under development, several sheep and chickens.
Always something needing to be done but then isn't that the fun of this lifestyle?
Hi KitKat! I have a cyber friend who is in the flood area. He WAS teaching at university in the town that had the flash flood. Since his house is on high ground & he had a wonderful supply of fresh water & has solar power…he has several people coming to both stay, refresh/bathe and catch a bite! He has been helping with cleanup…scooping mud!

We're here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland – the DelMarVa (Delaware/Maryland/Virginia) Peninsula. It's located between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic. Some areas of MD are rolling hills all the way to the Blue Ridge, but here on the Shore, it's flat as paper, and good soil for growing things (a sandy loam)
Originally a city girl (born in Wash DC) and grew up about a mile from DC (Pennsylvania Ave. – yes, THAT Pennsylvania Ave.!) I never cared for city or suburbs much………………we had family on big tobacco farms in Southern MD while I was growing up, and I loved visiting there. Always thought I'd like to live in the country, and God granted me a wonderful husband that's one of a vanishing breed – a farmer, running the family farm!!

Hi, I guess that Deb and I are the only 2 Florida crackers here. I live in Largo , Fla. that is the Tampa Bay area ( St. Pete, Clearwater). I guess that I can't call my self a cracker because I was born in Ohio, but I have been here since I was 9 years old. I try to be a farmer on my little one family home lot. I have 3 hens and a silky rooster, a garden, a pond with 2 turtles and gold fish, a snake, 5 Chihuahuas and a Rottweiler that thinks he is a Chihuahua!!! My husband has a lot of patience with me. I have also lived in ky near Ft Knox and Germany , my X was in the Army. For living in Florida We never go to the beach, to hot and sandy( AC is our friend.) This is the best time of the year, not to hot and not to cold, just right! I found this site while looking for a site on how to make cheese, I love it!! I want to live on a farm too!!!!

We live in Queen Creek, Arizona. Have been here for 25 years now. It used to be a farming community but is slowly being sold out to developers. I live on a little county island in the middle of this growth. No paved roads but that is a blessing. In the backdrop of my home we can see the beautiful San Tan Mountains. Not huge mountains but a wonderful view nonetheless. This is the best time of the year here too. Spring has sprung! We plant wild flower seeds every fall and they are in wonderful bloom. Flowers everywhere. I am going to get my garden in this weekend. I can’t wait to get my hands dirty.

Hi everyone! I live in north central Pennsylvania about 10 miles due north of Williamsport, home of Little League Baseball and the LLB World Series. I live on top of a mountain above the snow line in the farm country of PA. It's windy and cold up here but I love it! We have two cats: Bad Kitty and Sweetie, and 15 hens who keep us entertained and in eggs. My hobbies are knitting, spinning wool, quilting, sewing…anything having to do with fiber. I also love to garden and can't wait to get my seeds started for spring.
Our land is home to an assortment of wild creatures: bears, deer, turkeys, squirrels (we live in Squirrel Heaven), grouse, pheasants, rabbits; Fishers, coyotes, and the occasional bobcat. I was born and raised in the country and I'm glad to be a country girl!

I think that I am in the state of denial. I like to think that I am still young but my body says that I am not 18 anymore. My friends are dying and retiring and moving to warmer towns, and I insist that this year is just the same as last year and what I did then I will do this year.

Well it isn't all bad. I framed and sheetrocked an 8x12 foot room in a basement this week for a customer. And I can still stand up straight.

We all try to deny it as much as we can, don't we? I mean….the alternate solution is to just give up and give in. NOT. :)

It was a plugin with google maps I think….it didn't work very consistently, so it must have been taken down. That was quite a while ago now…..

I'm in Ohio…lived here all of my almost 31 years.Originally from Columbus, I have lived in Cincinnati, and now reside in a town called Washington Court House. My husband is dead set on moving us to Florida in Feb/March 2012. While I LOVE the Beach and the heat, I will miss day dreaming of having a farm with chickens and goats and an orchard. If I had my choice? We would stay here and buy about 20 acres and I would never ever leave

I'm in Michigan. I have roughly fifty birds (chickens, ducks, geese) and will soon be getting goats…maybe Alpine? We have 12.2 acres of wooded land but may be moving off it to get closer to Grand Rapids, MI.
