Good morning and Happy New year to Everyone~ I have not posted on this website for a very long time and I miss it so.. When I lost my husband I posted on here and everyone had been such a source of support and comfort to me I'm still living on the farm by myself and things are doing pretty good. Have someone else farm it for me and for that I am grateful, don't want it to grow up with weeds . Just became a Grandma 5 weeks ago and this lil girl has me wrapped around my finger already, her name is Gracie and she is a darling lil rehead that is a spunky lil thing ..Going to post some recipes that I've been trying and I'm looking for some new ones that are possibly low in calories .but taste good . Got to get some weight off this old body of mine...seeing someone now who has lost 70 ponds by himself and is so determined to lose 20 more to goal.... I have no will power , but who knows with the right motivation anythg can happen... Alannaheart

Hi Alanna!

Not sure how to post a reply without having to include the post I'm replying to.

I am 63 years old and last summer a relative dieted and lost lots of weight.  Got me curious, so I talked with her and found that for the past 2 months she'd been doing a low-carbs and high fat diet similar to Atkins.   I immediately stopped eating bread, pasta, rice, grains, cereal, sugar...all carbs.... and focused my meals on meat, fish, vegetables and dairy.  Butter (not margarine or oils) is what is recommended on low-carb diets because of how our bodies adjust to it.  The butter actually stops me from feeling hungry..... and I was told that it works that way for almost everyone.

I have a heart condition, so I wasn't sure if this diet would be ok for me to do, but I was desperate to stop the weight gain which my medication was doing to me.  So far, so good.  I've been doing this diet since last July 2014 and I'm feeling better than I've felt in the last bunch of years.  My energy level is even picking up and just in time for the 2015 gardening season!  :-)

I am now wearing clothes I couldn't bear to toss away but really never thought I'd be able to wear ever again.  Am still on my diet, but I do cheat once a week.  Completely cheat.  I eat donuts.  (Jelly, glazed and those ones with white frosting in them).  I eat anything with sugar.  Bread.  When I didn't cheat at all, I dropped weight fast.  Now, even with the 1-day-cheating-per-week, I am still losing weight but more like when on a normal diet.  It's ok by me.  Just as long as the scale continues to go down.  :-)

Hope this helps.  I know what it's like to be size 3X with no idea of how to turn the scale around.  Now my scale has turned downwards.  After I spoke with my relative, I googled everything I could think of to find low carb vegetables and fruits and used them in my meals.  I know there is info out there that you can find.  Good luck and best wishes for you!happy-flower

Hi Everyone,

I haven't visited here in a while.  Last time I was posting, I got no answers so I sort of gave up.

It's nice seeing people post and I too remember how busy it was on here and some days it was tough to keep up with all the posts.

Steven and I now have 5 grands and we love it so much.  I have started a baby sewing business that is taking off pretty well.  It's been fun sewing for the new babies and also sewing for something to do when Steven is working long hours or the weekends.  I also work a full time job.

I missed all the banter and was looking for a thread of conversations and finally found this one.  YEAH to everyone posting!!!  Hope to keep coming back and get some visits in with some old friends.

Hello Cheryl,

My goodness, it has been a long time, this thread does'nt show on the main page, I just happened to see your post on the sidebar.

So many of the regulars have'nt been around for some time now, I am hoping they return eventually and this site will come back to what it used to be. It sounds like you have been very busy and have setteled into your new life and the family is growing.

                How are your furbabies doing?

We are starting to get the yardwork started and looking forward to the remainder of Spring and into Summer. Can't wait to get flowers and tomatoes planted.

So happy to hear from you again. happy-flower

I know, it is sad  how quiet it is here...it was for many years my most favorite forum.

It would be lovely to have a more active group again.

I just read a post from BreaHuston, she has been waiting for some time to have her post moderated, someone needs to help these new folks that are trying to become new members.

I just noticed Brea is able to post--welcome Brea!

Hi Joel,

Yep it's been a while, but I'm hoping to pop back in a lot to catch up on everyone.

The fur babies are doing great, spoiled as usual.  We started making homemade food last fall for Luka (husky & daddy to the other 2) because his ear had an infection and he vet said it was chicken.  We fed them lamb and rice but he got so sensitive that if we bought the first lot after they ran the chicken it affected him.  A few weeks ago we went back to buying some food because of the Easter holiday and limited amount of room in our 1 fridge.  We started with him and then started feeding all 3 like this, so hard to keep up since they were over 70 lbs each.  I might have to start Luka back on the home made meals but keep the other 2 on kibble.  The other night I made some gummy treats for them, gelatin is good for their joints.

Here are some of my recent creations from my new business "Baby Lovables"  It's been keeping me busy lol and I love it.

How is the yard work going.  I need to get out to my flower garden and get it cleaned up.  How is your family... gee I really miss all this :)

Hi to everyone I haven't talked to yet.  Can't wait to meet you all.

I have been thinking the same thing. When I first started following CITR there were so many folks joining in and I miss many of the ones who were active; Pete, Jeanne, Ross, Cindy, Cheryl, Sheryl and many more. If you all are still out there know you are missed. But I know I can always depend on something from Joell every day.

Hi mamawolf,

How are you doing!!! I'm trying to peak in here more often.  The last time I was doing this I didn't get any replies back to the posts I was making so I wasn't sure anyone was left. So glad you are here and some others :)

Life is keeping us busy, we have 5 grandkids now and I've been busy with a sewing business I'm working on.  I need to find the pro's and con's of setting up a shopping cart if someone wants to pay by credit card.  On one of my other posts I showed a few pictures of stuff that I made recently.

What have you been up to?  I do notice that even some of the admins haven't posted in a while, that's so sad it was a fun, informative group.

Hope to keep seeing more and more posts

Hugs Cheryl pawprint

I am happy to here the furbabies are getting on better now, our little girl is doing well, we keep our fingers crossed and prayers going.

Hi Flatlander,

Thanks for the compliments, I really enjoy the sewing and matching up material.

Today I sold the pink set in the pictures and the girl was just thrilled with it.  Her niece is a preemie and mommy is having a shower this coming weekend.  I love seeing the smiles when they find something they love.

You don't get to sewing any more?  what is keeping you busy these days?  I know working sometimes feels like it gets in the way of doing what I love.  One of these days I will find the time to learn how to quilt, it's on my to do list of things I want to learn.

Hugs Cheryl

Hi Jo,

Thanks :) for the compliments on my creations, they do keep me busy.

Glad the little girl is doing well, prayers are wonderful and I'm sending some to you.

I still feel like I'm stumbling around here trying to find my way :) so I understand about looking for posts in new places. I have either put the conversations on watch or subscribe for me to find them easier.

I'm still working on my website but I do have a facebook page you can look on.  You don't have to join just to look at it.  You can see more of the things I have made.

I'm having fun chatting and catching up posts.

I have not seen BuckeyeGirl or CindyP posting either for the longest time, they were always so helpful when anyone had a problem, they are missed.

Hi Jo,

I looked them up

Cindy P hasn't visited since Oct 30, 2013 and

Buckeyegirl hasn't visited since Nov 15, 2013.

It's a shame that Suzanne hasn't updated her admin people to help out.

They were so nice and helpful... I guess we are on our own LOL.

Yep just us keeping it going.  I don't see much discussion or the forum.

what's up for today?  I'm working but tonight I'm hoping to get some sewing done.  I want to do a contest on my facebook page for mommies or mommies to be to win a blanket.

it's cold and yucky looking out... just hoping to see the sun peak out for a bit.

Not much going on here in So. Central KS.  We got a clothesline (well, the posts) put in yesterday.  Today, hopefully will get the lines put in.  No more stringing lines from the house to the neighbor's fence when I need to hang clothes (although, I just mostly hang bedding on the line).  Since those were at an angle the wind would sometimes rip the things off the line & into the neighbor's yard.  The last time I found a pillowcase hanging from his pine tree and the other in the backyard of the house across the street from his.

Today, I am supposed to get the pots emptied of soil and rocks so that the patio can be cleaned.

It is cool here as we had a cold front go through.

Guess I had better get to work.

Hi mamajhk

Great start for your clothesline.  No fun playing hide and seek with your bedding, this will be so much better.

Chilly here too, but we had a light sprinkling of snow this morning, nothing stayed but gee I would like a bit of sunshine, haven't seen it since Saturday.

I have 6 new pots that need to be filled so I can plant.  Not happening tonight lol probably will be next weekend since this weekend Steven has to work and I'm not sure just how much soil we are going to need.
