Pictured: Strawberry-Lemon Marmalade.
I had a bunch of strawberries recently and thought of canning them whole but got discouraged by reports that they lose color and flavor that way, so ended up making more strawberry-lemon marmalade. If you haven’t tried this recipe yet, you must! It’s my favorite preserve, hands down, and everyone loves to get it for gifts. The lemon pieces in it taste like candy. Get the recipe here.
It’s a Ball Blue Book Project day! And I’m giving away THREE books today!! Today’s three-book Ball Blue Book giveaway is sponsored by Janet Boivin “in honor of the family canners and the cellars they kept well-stocked for many years for their large families in Roane County.” Those wonderful women were her mother, Mae Epling Rowe, grandmother, Lula Drake Epling, and great-grandmother, Eliza Lewis Rowe.

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

I rescued a kitten last November (right before I was laid off, from my job of sixteen years)…and his name is Casper. I so loved it when Morgan picked that name for the new puppy.
Please add my name in the hat for a BBB.
Thank you, Sharri
