Why I Can't Take Them Anywhere But Do Anyway

Yesterday I took 14 and Princess to the orthodontist. This would have worked out so much better if it hadn’t turned out that their appointment had been Tuesday.
So since we were in Charleston with no braces to tighten, we went to my favorite restaurant, Soho’s, at the Capitol Market. It’s a really cool restaurant inside a renovated old railroad transfer dock building. Outside is a wonderful farmers market. The cuisine is gourmet–one time, I was there with a friend and she asked for ketchup and mayonnaise. The waitress said, “The chef will not allow ketchup and mayonnaise in the restaurant.” Well. Okay….. The food is really good, though, and it’s a great place to people-watch as it is a popular spot for media personalities and local politicians, including the governor. Which clearly made it a fabulous place for Princess to show off her etiquette skills blowing wrappers off straws and shooting Coke out of four at once…..at a table next to Bray Cary (above, the man in blue), CEO of West Virginia Media and anchor of the TV news show, Decision Makers. Of course, a celebrity stalking is not complete without a picture, so I managed to sneak one, then looked around and said, “What other famous people are here today? Oh–me!!!!”

14 said, “I don’t see anybody trying to take a picture of you.”

What is that about?

After Princess finished four Cokes, adding approximately four sugar packets to each one (as if there wasn’t enough sugar in there to begin with?) we headed out to the house to find the concrete being poured in the basement!
Princess was very excited about her windowseat-to-be!

Then she checked out her big window.And climbed out–
–onto the roof.

She is going to be the death of me.
But truth? We had a wonderful day. It’s rare, a day to goof off with my kids, no schedule to keep. I didn’t even take them back to school. We just….enjoyed. Maybe I should screw up appointments more often.

What a great day you had! And hey, you never know, maybe someone *did* sneak a photo of you in the restaurant. :smile:

Overdue hi-lites and hair cut for me tomorrow, then — gulp!– house party at the boss’s home tomorrow night. First one he’s had in the 7+ years we’ve all been together. I’m not sure how this will go, socializing outside of the office, but I’ll take alcohol with me.

Sounds as if the day went well. Princess could have ejected the Coke without benefit of straws. I am sure someone sneaked a picture of you. It wouldn’t be sneaking if you saw them now would it? I used to love days out with my two. Still do in fact. While my daughter was here this summer, I took her and 4 grandsons, my son and grandaugter, his spouse, my brother & spouse and my great neice and great-great nephew. Whew, thats a lot. We had a fantastic time. Please enter me in the draw. I need something to read.

I spent alot of time putting away all of my summer clothes and it is still hot here. So had to go back and get out some short sleeved wear. I live in the Phoenix area and it is 82 degrees now. Won’t seem like Thanksgiving unless it gets cooler. anyway, Happy thanksgiving.

Great pics, especially the last one :eek: We just got the cold weather and light snow but it won’t be long :weather: My daughter and fiancee were just here for 4 days and we had a great time. One of the things we did was visit the exhibit of Bodies that’s going around the country – quite fascinating.

Sounds like a fun day. I’m sure the kids will remember it for a long time, especially when they are older.
As for the weekend, I’m going to see if I can get the hubs to do some chores around here tomorrow and then sunday I am hoping that we can go hiking. We’ll see. *g*

We had our first snowfall LAST Wednesday but it’s gone now. It is very cold, though, and is supposed to snow. I’m going to try very hard to stay in as much as possible this weekend.
