Peas.

This year’s first little dreams have been dropped into the soil.

This year, I’m going to be like the little red hen. I’m going to plant and weed and water and work. I’m going to spin about the garden with my hoe like a Tazmanian devil. I’m going to grow beanstalks so tall, you could climb them up to the clouds and find a giant’s castle. My flowers will be so big, fairies will take up residence, and my hens will lay golden eggs.

It’s nearly Spring! The world is full of magic again.

I’m making big plans too. Only it’s still way to early to plant here yet. About two more months. Then I’ll be all over it.

I love it! My hostas are peeking through the ground, along with the lilies and glads and all the mint. My herbs are looking more alive by the day. And I’m ready to get outside and get dirt under my fingernails. I’m ready for it too, Suzanne. Can’t wait to see what all else you’ll be growing!

Oh, there is nothing so good as a fresh-picked pea! When I was a little girl, Mother and I would go out in the garden very early in the morning. She’d give me my sand bucket with water in it, and I would pick peas, wash them and eat them right in the garden! I thought it was magic. Have fun!

Love the moon shot! As for your dreams of peas – the strongest memory I have of the great-aunt who raised my Mom was “helping” her shell fresh garden peas when I was 4 or 5. I loved seeing all those little green balls tumble out of their pods, and I learned to like the taste of fresh peas.

(I just love the dancing Snoopy) It’s so true that with the start of spring there are so many plans and hopes for the coming growing season! It’s exciting. Last year a blog friend taught me to put down in the “aisles” of my garden and around my plants 4 layers of newspaper and straw on top of that. Once I did that I didn’t have to weed at all. Joy! Plus, the newspaper and straw turns into compost that you can just turn into the garden in the fall or spring

I’m with ya! My plans for a garden are ambitious this year. I have to keep on track….think fresh peas, fresh bibb lettuce, fresh tomatoes…. I am garden-challenged but am trying to overcome it. Thank you for the encouraging posts….I don’t think I have to tell you to “keep them coming”!

I have big hopes and dreams for my garden this year too. Last year was a bust so we are building raised garden beds. I started my snow peas indoors 2 weeks ago. Should be ready to go into the ground by April. I can’t wait!!

The other night’s full Moon has a special name–the Worm Moon. It signals the coming of northern spring, a thawing of the soil, and the first stirrings of earthworms in long-dormant gardens. It is a night to step outside and behold the wakening landscape. “Worm moonlight” is prettier than it sounds as you show in your photo!

This year will be my first ever garden and I am so excited about it. I have already got seedlings started indoors and they are shooting up so fast. Since we don’t have a tiller our garden will be all container gardening. But I am anxious to get them going.

We live in Colorado and probably won’t get our garden in until May. Still have some cold days–like today. I do have some daffadols and Johnny jump-ups peaking thru. Makes my heart glad. Hugs, Bobbie

Here in Texas we “thought” we had spring. Then the torrential rains began. We’re about to swim down river. No, I think it’s stopped for now. My garden is a bog!

I’m saying the same exact thing to myself, I’m gonna grow a jungle! Until the temps reach 80 that is, then I wilt like a flower without water….but I am excited! Spring! How long HAS it bean? bean? see????
