A Very Romantic Giveaway

Feb
14

Most of you who read here know I used to be a romance novelist. I quit that to write love stories about goats on my blog, which has actually been far more successful for me. Which says something about my romance writer skills, but I DON’T KNOW WHAT.

Clover: “You were nothing before me, Woman.”

Alas, ’tis true!

Also true is that through my years as a romance writer, I formed many long-term, lasting friendships. The best friends of my life are my romance writer friends who carried me through pregnancies and babies, sales and rejections, late nights talking and laughing in hotel rooms at Romance Writers of America conferences, and even unto my abandonment of the glamorous world of romance publishing to become a dirty, tattered farmer. And so today, to celebrate Valentine’s Day, I’ve coerced some of my very best friends into allowing me to give away some of their books–to you! Slow Heat by Jill Shalvis, The Accidental Countess by Michelle Willingham, and What I Did for Love by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Okay, okay, I admit it, I AM BUT SUSAN’S STALKER FAN, though I did breathe the same air as her one time at an RWA conference. And it wasn’t even that time I sneaked into her hotel room while she was sleeping because she doesn’t know about that. However! She is a fan of Clover, so despite the protective order she has against me for stalking her, she is offering up one of her books here today. Okay, okay, it’s not Susan who has a protective order against me for stalking, it’s NORA. (Actually, surprisingly, Nora Roberts doesn’t have a protective order against me either. Yet. You’ll have to read this post to fully understand.)

Behold the books:

Slow Heat by Jill Shalvis.

The Accidental Countess by Michelle Willingham.

What I Did for Love by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

Visit their websites! All three of these authors have gorgeous websites with more information about all their books plus excerpts and other fun extras.

Jill is a USA Today bestselling author and I would be her stalker, too, except I know she’s, like, totally a real person and puts her pants on one leg at a time and everything because I’ve slept with her. IT WAS AT AN RWA CONFERENCE. That’s allowed!!! She has behind-the-book secrets and a hilarious blog about her life in the Sierras, her kids, her pets, and her bunny slippers. Say hello to Jill here: Jill Shalvis.

Michelle is one of the hottest new historical romance writers and I’ve known her since she was two years old. Okay, eighteen. And I was only twelve. I’VE SLEPT WITH HER, TOO. She has some really cool historical background information, photos, and links about her medieval Ireland-set novels. Find Michelle here: Michelle Willingham.

Susan is the New York Times bestselling author of the very popular “Chicago Stars” series. I HAVEN’T SLEPT WITH HER. But not for lack of trying. She has recipes and a message board–and be sure to check out her video trailer for What I Did for Love. (Her video letter to readers is pretty funny, too. Don’t miss that one.) See Susan here: Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

Each of these great writers is offering up one autographed copy of their book here today. For a chance to win, simply post a comment! I’ll do three drawings, one for each book. (You don’t need to enter three times–one comment will enter you for all three drawings.)

After you leave your comment, don’t forget to visit Jill, Michelle, and Susan–romance writers are fabulous people!

P.S. Eligible entry closes at midnight Eastern time tonight. Return to this post tomorrow for an update. I’ll post the winners by or before 9 a.m. Eastern. Good luck!

Actually, Suzanne is one of the reasons why I write for Harlequin. She took me to the Harlequin/Silhouette party at the Waldorf Astoria ballroom (glamor!) and I had so much fun, I swore on the life of my firstborn that I was GOING TO WRITE FOR HARLEQUIN. However, I did spend quite a lot of time today making those toilet paper tube planting pots!! Thanks a lot for the help. Yes, the pictures helped make it clear. It is also clear that I am weaving challenged… my pots don’t stand up straight. Hope the maters and peppers don’t care…
