Cuteness Overload | Chickens in the Road

I love farm babies! And this year, there have been so many.

First there were the baby chickens.

Then there were the baby goats.

And the giant baby dog.

As if that was not enough, the baby birds just hatched in the nest in my hen house.

And when I went over to my cousin’s house, here’s what I found at the old wash house door.

You have no idea how hard it was to not bring one home!

Love all the babies. I don’t know if I could have left without a kitten. We’re looking for a puppy for our family and they are all so cute!!

Uh, why isn’t the momma cat (and the male or males) spayed/neutered?

My co-worker and I just did our first feral kitten rescue on Friday and we’d like to trap the mom too, to get her spayed.

I don’t mean to offend, but I am a *HUGE* advocate of spaying and neutering. There are far too many millions of animals in shelters that are euthanized every year (and maybe they are the lucky ones) to allow even barn cats to breed.

Just my $0.02.

And I think I’d have brought them home when they were weaned — and spayed the mom!

Kim, that’s why I have so many cats, I took in all the barn kittens while I lived there! I had all of mine spayed/neutered, and had the barn mamas (that I could catch) fixed.

I had a tortoise-shell many years ago. She was a small bodied cat, medium hair and a lot of fun. She knew her name and would come when you called her. She would take walks with you … up to about 2-3 blocks, then stop and meow very loudly

We had to hand-raise her from about 3-4 weeks because my brother found her stuck in a wall at my Dad’s business and she had been injured. It was not possible to return her to her mother(a feral cat).

I don’t think I have seen a tortie in your collection?

I just got the happy kitty sound from my 18 month old daughter when I showed her this post…goes something like “AAAeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” Not sure if that is what she thinks her kitty sounds like but this is it for now! Love the baby goat…so cute!

and on a farm sometimes its not possible to even get near a barn cat much less catch one to take to a vet to get them fixed up. Suckers can be wild as the wind.
But I totally agree its the responsible thing to get them taken care of to prevent overpopulation and cats that end up in bad shape.

It WAS hard not to bring one (or both!) home. I have a lot of cats already, though! (That I got the same way, LOL.)

And no, I don’t have a tortie now, though I did have one many, many years ago. They’re gorgeous.

I love cats, just not at my house. I can’t stand that climbing all over everything.
But if I had brought one, I’d have to have two. They are so cute when they play.

Oh my goodness, why would you try to resist??? If you are going to get a horse, you’ll have hay, and hay means mice and mice means you need a KITTEH. We have four indoor/outies and some barn kittehs too. Have you seen
“I can haz cheeseburger?”

Personally I think you need a pony/cart setup like mine. I think a little pony cart would be great on your roads.

The tortie looks just like my sons new cat. His kitten is a rescue from a feral colony and absolutely wonderful. I applaud you for taking in as many of the farm cats as you could and getting the mamas you could catch :cattail: spayed.

I, like beckynsc, am not intrested in having cats in my house. I dislike having cat hair all over everything. Plus my daughter’s cat put me in the hospital for 96 days in 1986.(not all at once) But I think they are so cute when they are little like those. Have a great day and to all.

Oh, my gosh! How hard it would be to walk away from those faces! It’s been a long time since I’ve had a kitten. My “kittens” are big, lazy eating and pooping machines now. But, they’re loves, and I remember the fuzzy, big-eyed, big-eared days as if they were yesterday. As with human babies, those times pass way too quickly!

How adorable! You are a strong woman to walk away from them! I know you’ve worked hard at getting the wild cats fixed! Seems like there’s always one that you can’t find or don’t know is there, doesn’t it? Well, you’re doing the best you can. Good for you.

Cute, cute, cute! I too have brought many a barn cat home. Usually to save it cause the racoons or something had gotten momma cat. I have three here now that were all about three days old when we got them. (All at different times) I gotta say no more. It’s just too hard forme to take care of all the critters we have saved.
I will justbe really happy to look at the pictures and say Aw…how cute!

Picture of the day…McMurray hatchery (who has been a lifesaver to me) says: FAVEROLLES have beards-”Originally bred as a utility fowl in France, now it is raised mostly for exhibition and novelty. It is good sized with a beard, muff, feathered shanks, and 5th toe. The male is colored in straw, reddish brown and black; the female a creamy white and salmon brown. Baby chicks are creamy white with muff, fuzzy legs, and 5th toe” .Although yours may not be purebred, lacking the fifth toe and feathered legs. We use to have one before the coyote- nuff said .
Love the tooooo much cuteness pics. You are doing a great job . What’s the problem with leaving the kittys’ at cousins’ house? He has a big hunting ground under / among his vehicles.

AWWWWWE! They are all SOOOOO cute. I could just “eat them up” as my granny used to say. I’ve had blog withdrawal… I have a new “job” at my office starting a couple of weeks ago, so I don’t have any spare time to read blogs any more. I’m happy to be working hard and not to be bored any longer, but I’m used to getting to READ my fav. bloggers every day except for the weekends. Well Suzanne blogs daily, THANKS! but the others don’t on weekends like Dooce & Daily Coyote. She has a new puppy too. A border collie mix that is called Chloe. And Dooce has a Mini Australian Shepherd from Jan 08 called Coco! It’s a small world. I’m now craving a puppy. How sick is that? I think my cat and 18 yr old dog would object, but I’m thinking about visiting the shelter in August as a b-day present for my hubby. He’s been wanting another dog for awhile now and even indicated that he would like a young one or puppy if he can keep up with house training it.
