Dear Winter,

Please accept my heartfelt apology for yesterday’s post.
img_21944
Turning all my calendars impatiently to March was an unfortunate lapse in judgment on my part.
img_22038
I didn’t really mean to trick you or mess with your head or push you into therapeutic medication.
img_22027
I was trying to be funny, but I understand that humor is subjective.

I want to apologize to the birds, too.
img_21882
And the goats.
img_22099
And especially the sheep because they look pretty angry and I’m scared of them.
img_21975
I will also apologize to the chickens whenever they can be coaxed out of their house again.

I am sincerely regretful of my behavior and duly chastened by the snow you have dumped upon us in response. I will only treat you with the utmost respect henceforth. Let’s just turn all the calendars back to February and forget this ever happened.

Love and kisses,
Suzanne

too funny, I just found you the other day via Charleston newspaper. I grew up in South Charleston, and for a brief time in the early 80’s lived in Pocatalico.
My parents and my 2 brothers still live in Charleston. I read the newspapers online every day and look at the newspaper webcams regularly.
I am lovin’ all that give here and find myself checking in every morning. Note the time- I am a serious insomniac. And my writing skills lack. So please don’t judge.
It was the pepperoni rolls recipe that brought me here, I worked on Capitol St. for few years(80 thru 83) there was bakery right by the walk way and they made some pepperoni rolls baby. Yours look interesting,I am just so tempted to try them but baking always defeats me. I can cook up a storm, but baking??? I don’t know what it is. I have tried a few methods with grands canned biscuits and the likes but they are an injustice to the pepperoni roll.
BTW I am headed that way on March 5th my Daddy is in a nursing home out near Pocatalico. Have you ever had to say goodbye to someone? I’ve done it once (my Mema)and I was a trooper but this one is well .. all I can say is I never thought that I could be this weak.

hahahahah, yes mr winter does have a tendency to do what ever he pleases, it was the same here in holland, although i really now see an improvement……..
    maybe i shouldn’t say that πŸ˜†

    hugs
    gwen

  3. Kathie says:

Yep…I did the same. Turned over my calendar to the photo of the two roosters and Boom! We got snow. Well, I am standing my ground. I am done. I want flowers. I want leaves on the trees so that I cannot see my weird neighbor. I want to see my cats sleeping on the porch in the sun. Heck, I want to sit on my porch in the sun. Please Spring, where ever you are, come fast!

  4. CindyP says:

No, Suzanne, I apologize!! I still believe it’s because mine is still in January!! I still didn’t flip it, even to February…..even though my thought was to flip it to April….. hmmm… if I don’t flip it until March, does that mean February didn’t exist???!?!?!?!

P.S. Can you get out? You’re not snowed in again are you?? With it being March, you would think that you would be beyond being snowed in!!! πŸ˜†

  5. Gabrielle says:

Sigh. I’ll swap you. I’d LOVE snow right about now. I’d love to be snowbound for about 2 weeks so I could get this book finished. And so I could eat lots of chocolate and drink lots of coffee. Niiiiiiice! :snoopy:

  6. Christine says:

ROTFL! I believe they call that Karma, yes?

  7. Nancy K. says:

It takes a real woman to admit when she was wrong.

    Well said!!

  8. Sheryl says:

lol! Are you the one that brought us this?

Out my patio door 5 mins ago.

  9. Kacey says:

LOL, winter is probably thinking “revenge is sweet.”

  10. Nancy in Atlanta says:

Why, why, why does everyone else get snow, and I’m the one who would love to see it fall, pile up, and blow around?? All we’ve had this winter were a couple hours of snow dots – not even flurries. I fondly remember those blizzards that hit Atlanta in the past (although I seem to have blocked out the memories of falling on ice, my car sliding in snow and smashing into another car, skidding on black ice and landing in a ditch, etc.) I wonder if I turned MY calendar to March if I’d get one of those late southern snow dumps? Nahhh, it would probably be an ice storm and knock out power for a week. Again.

Have you heard from Clover? Has she called? Written? :purpleflower:

    Sigh..

  11. Claudia W. says:

Oh my! That sheep looks mighty angry! Be careful Suzanne!

  12. IowaCowgirl says:

ah yes, you have angered the gods of winter, alas…

  13. Leah says:

It was a nice try tho….too bad it backfired on you!Looks like a blizzard hit over there!

  14. trish says:

It poured yesterday here and today it is bitterly cold. I think that calendar flip affected everyone. Love your apology to winter. I don’t think winter will accept it!!

Has clover called, written??? You did leave her the cell phone, right??? What if she wants to come home early??

  15. Molly says:

You just do not mess with Mother Nature.

  16. Kim W says:

Tsk, tsk. Didn’t you ever see that commercial years ago (of course, I’m waaaaaay older than you)…”It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature!” :hole:

    Blessings from Ohio…

  17. Kim says:

Wow you have the power don’t you?!?! πŸ™‚ I’d be afraid of the sheep too. They look a little scary even in the pictures. Enjoy the snow and hopefully the sun will peek through soon. March is less than a week away now. πŸ™‚

  18. Winifred says:

Oh my that’s cold looking stuff.

Never mind you got some beautiful pictures out of it. Love the one of the trees by the water. Would make fantastic Christmas cards.

  19. monica says:

My Mom always said that there is no pain in heaven, but they sure have it here on earth. My prayers go out to you and your Daddy.

  20. Barbee' says:

Don’t let the sheep know you are afraid of them! (And carry a big stick!)

  21. SuzieQ says:

I never trust winter to be gone until AFTER March is over. Here in my part of NC we have had some of our worst snows in March. I’m with Nancy in Atlanta, would love to have just one good snow. We’ve only had a few dustings this year, but I’m not giving up yet! Does everyone appear to miss Clover? :snowman: :snowman:

  22. Kaye Manro says:

I’m feeling the same cold, girl! And yes we also tried to rush it away too soon. Great photos though.
    Kaye

  23. Krystal smallwood says:

Seems to me you really hate the winter. It took all that to say i’m soory….lol

  24. Brandy says:

Whoa! That’s a lot of snow!

  25. Mary Olson says:

We only got a couple inches in MN. Everyone is complaining, but I love the snow. It’s the freezing rain we’ve had this year that makes me crazy. And as already mentioned, the snow does make for beautiful photos.

  26. amy says:

Ahh you really blew it with your confidence didn’t you?! πŸ˜‰ I live in south western Canada (not far from Vancouver BC) and snow here is a treat. Thinking not so much there πŸ˜‰

  27. Tressa says:

Ms. Suzanne, does this mean I can blame you for the snow instead of Ol’ Man Winter?

    Just asking…

  28. Pearl says:

Sad to say, from down here in Central Texas (Dallas) I wish we had more winter to look forward to. Already temps are oozing up to 60s, and I am spending week down in San Marcos (below Austin) where temps will be even HIGHER. No snow. No ice. No angry livestock.
