I See Rainbows

This amazing little device makes rainbows. (I got it from Signals, but I don’t know if they still carry it or not.) You stick it on any window that gets sun and when the sun hits it, it shoots rainbows all over the room. I’m not kidding. It is so cool. This one went up on my dining room window yesterday. It was gray and rainy, so it didn’t make any rainbows.

I’ve had a lot of rain in my life in the past couple of years. I’ve had a lot of rainbows, too. The rainbows wouldn’t be nearly as pretty if they didn’t follow the rain. Today, it’s supposed to rain, too, so no major furniture moving yet–especially since most of the house still looks like a construction zone. But today I woke up at the most perfect place in the world–my own farm. (I LIVE ON A FARM! I am so not over that.) I have a fold-out sofa to sleep on, internet connection, and TV (local channels or not). I have a fridge full of food and working water. So far, I’ve brought over three of our innumerable cats and our two dogs.

And this girl, who promptly ate her first bowl of ice cream in our new farmhouse.

I worked on organizing my kitchen and as soon as Steve-the-Builder puts the oven in and hooks up the gas cooktop, I’m ready to start cooking and baking again. I have asparagus plants that need planting, and a peach tree and a thornless blackberry bush, too. And it’s almost time to start chickens. I’m getting eggs from my “chicken lady” in April to incubate.

It may still be raining, but I see rainbows.

You are getting to be so countryfied… not fried.. :rotfl: How much fun for you to be able to get one of the things that you have always wanted!!! I love the rainbow maker, I have the little crystals you hang in the window, but they are no help. Hope your day is as good as that Ice cream looks… :hungry:

We had rain here last night. Yesterday was pretty, but it stormed most of the night.

I’m glad you are making progress. Finishing work is soooo slow. But when Steve is finished, and you get moved, you’ll settle into a routine.

Thumbs up to you, Suzanne!!! :flying: :shimmy: :rotfl:

:bananadance: I believe God gives us Valleys to appreciate the mountains in our life…same as rain versus sunshine.

You will make it thru this small chapter of the move. Betcha in 3 months from now most of this will be forgotten and you will knee deep in baby chicks, gardening and flowers. and maybe a new set of baby kitties.

What fun! Sorry about the rain again. Hopefully it will dry out soon enough so you can move over all the furniture. What fun to get the kitchen installed so you can bake and cook there. Hope it’s soon!

I love those rainbow makers. Olivia has one and it’s mesmerizing. I wish my classroom had enough sunlight that I could buy one to use there, too! She got hers at the Clay Center.

Today looks sunny… *knock on wood!*

I have a journal with a quote on the spine that reads: “The soul would have no rainbows if the eyes had no tears.” I carry those words with me. Your rainbow maker goes with the quote, I think.

Rain is good. Plants like it, wells like it, streams like it–and my hair loves it. No static!

I love the rainbow maker! I couldn’t find one on the Signals site, so I guess they don’t carry them anymore. Must track them down.

It’s rainy here, too. But it hope it stops there so you can get moved in!

If I find out where to get those rainbow gadgets, I will have one on every window in my house! A rainbow is God’s way of telling us everything will be OK. So happy to see you in your house and on your farm! Everything will come in time. God and his rainbow says so! Raining here, too. :snoopy:

That rainbow maker is pretty cool; I’ve never seen one.

So no rainbows here today, but we do have sunshine! And — gasp! — I saw *three* robins today! I hope they can find food somewhere, since there’s still so much snow (feet and feet of it) on the ground. I saw them on a patch of grass on a hill near one of our libraries. Winter still might toy with us, but Spring is on Her way!

Oh, what do the cats and dogs think of the new house?

We’re getting the rain too and they’re talking about possible snow tomorrow night  I love the idea of a rainbow maker

Aw, Suzanne, this post is almost sh*tting rainbows! I’m so happy for you. I can ‘hear in your voice’ how excited and happy you are to be home on your farm. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: You’re living my dream life. It’s fun to live it vicariously through this lovely blog. Thanks for sharing your trials and tribulations, and most of all your triumphs!

:catmeow: I thought of you today Suzanne. I took a day trip to a Ballinger, TX to drop my daughter with my sister. It was a central location to meet, 3 hours away from each of us. We ate at a wonderful Mexican restaurant, Alejandra’s, that had AN OUTHOUSE! I’m serious! It was in an old, old building. In order to get to the bathroom, you had to go out on the back patio and into a separate building that had the restrooms. Fully working, modern conveniences, but as an OUTHOUSE! No, I didn’t have a camera to take pictures.

I love going outhouse hunting in Missouri. Find an outhouse, find an old cemetery.

Please tell me, how do you do all that you do? Sounds like you have a million things on your table that makes me wonder when you have the time to write your books…Wow!
. Have read your books, love reading as much as possible. Started my own book many years ago but never finished it after the ninth chapter…didn’t feel like I was good enough even though it had always been one of my dreams…your so lucky to have your books out there. Need to take a trip to West Va soon to visit my mom and family…my mom is a very active 84 yr old…still busy making beautiful quilts…you would love them. She’s also one of the best cooks around, her rolls are great. Fern, from Ohio
