Six Things

1. Look at those roos! They’ll be ready to meet their maker by the end of October. And not a moment too soon. They sound like a rooster boy band in the morning. A rooster boy band called Crow.

By the way, somebody had asked about seeing a new pic of one of the feather-legged roos.

White Roo: “You got somethin’ on your legs, man. What IS that? Are you okay?”

Anyway.

There he is.

This one’s a keeper.

2. Peanut and Coal, Nutmeg’s babies, will be moving on this Sunday. They’ll be plucked from their mother’s hooves to start their new life as studs on another farm. That’s the best new life two boy goaties can hope for, so it’s a good thing! I’m happy that they’re going together and will get to stay together.

3. Tomorrow (Saturday), I’m going to Morgantown to the WVU football game! I’m hoping to have time to stop by and inspect Weston’s dorm room. I’m sure there are hospital corners on the beds and he will be reading a textbook, typing a paper, and working out calculus problems all at once when I arrive. I’m sure he won’t be staring at photos of his girlfriend, sleeping, or playing on his computer!

4. Before I leave town, I’ll be stopping by the county courthouse to reserve our date at Camp Sheppard for CITR Retreat 2012. I’ll let you know the date asap in case some of you want to start pencilling that in on your calendars.

5. Impatient to know the truth about BP, I networked with the natives. I called Ed across the river.

Me: “Do you know how to preg check a cow?”

Ed: “No.”

Me: “I know you’re lying.” People who know how to preg check cows lie about it a lot. For some reason, people don’t like to do it.

Ed: “I’m not lying!”

I tried that a couple more times just to test him then he told me that he knew a guy who preg checks everybody’s cows around here. He lays pipeline for a living, but when he’s not laying pipeline, you can get him to preg check your cow. See, that’s why you must network with the natives! And wear them down until they give up everything they know! The “preg checker” has Sunday off the pipeline, so I’m hoping to get him out here to check BP’s pipes, er, you know. I’ll let you know!

6. I’ve had a few emails asking about when I’m going to get back to posting more regularly. I’ve been posting every day on the Daily Farm page, but I’ve been a bit random on the main blog sections I know. I’ve taken more time off my blog in the past month than I have ever. Ever. Ever. My days have not been filled with sloth, though. I’m working on a (secret) project right now, and I promise I’ll get back to more regular postings soon. Thank you for bearing with me, and thank you for being here!

I don’t care for the fuzzy legged roosters because they always look like they have dirty stockings!
I am waiting impatiently for the retreat date! ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree with everyone. You always have something new and interesting, you spoil us. We enjoy the catagories but you shouldn’t have to post something new on each one everyday. Can’t wait to hear about your secret project. Thank Suzanne and to all your helpers. CITR is the best!

  8. Cheryl LeMay says:

That’s alot of roosters! You will have your work cut out for you when it comes time for them to meet their maker. I do not envy you that task at all. I hope you’ll have lots of help with it. I can’t wait to hear how that goes. I also can’t wait to find out what this secret project is. I love a good secret!

  9. lavenderblue says:

Suzanne, seriously? We’ve been reading new things here, everyday, chatting amongst ourselves on the forum, trying out new recipes from Farm Bell and having more fun than any blog should legally be allowed to have and you are apologizing for being away from it. And then a new project. Here all this time we were thinking you really, really were doing a little resting; well, as much as possible on a farm. Silly, silly us.

I’m sure that those who emailed just want you to know that you are missed, like if you didn’t show up to a few meeting of the Quilter’s Club if we were neighbors. It is not an indictment on how hard you are working, goodness knows.

Have fun at WVU and by all means, check out Weston’s room. It’s a mother’s duty. He might need clean socks or something. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. Liz Pike says:

Suzanne, I forgot I wanted to ask you a question?????? Is the featherlegged rooster a Brahma?? Ok two questions, how much do you expect him to weigh at “Meeting his maker”?

  13. Leah says:
