What Not To Wear

May
5

My husband is threatening to call the people at TLC’s What Not To Wear.

Monday: t-shirt, shorts. Stay home.
Tuesday: t-shirt, shorts.. Go to Food Lion.
Wednesday: t-shirt, shorts. Stay home.
Thursday: t-shirt, shorts. Go to Food Lion.
Friday: t-shirt, shorts. Stay home.
Saturday: t-shirt, shorts. Go to soccer game. Husband orders me and my t-shirt, shorts, to stay in the car.
Sunday: nice outfit. Go to church. Go home. t-shirt, shorts.

Is there something wrong with t-shirts and shorts? It’s my Writer Look.

:::glancing over shoulder for Clinton and Stacy from What Not to Wear and their hidden camera::: Okay, truth, I’d take the $5000 credit card and the week trip to New York in a heartbeat to be on TLC despite the hidden camera embarrassment. (Honey, CALL THEM!) What about you? Would you let them take all your old clothes, throw them away, buy new clothes and let them cut your hair? On TV??

A free makeover and clothes? Heck, yeah, baby. I’m so there.

I’d like to think I would, but would they have to take *everything*? Would I have to give up my favorite Styx concert shirt? My Dark Hunter Addicts Anonymous t-shirt with the slit neck? There are just some things I can’t give up.

From one who wears her pjs sometimes all day, I say, “right on, sister.”

Get rid of my beloved work clothes (sweats!!)???

    NO WAY. I’m with Mary.

I’ve never watched the show, but I think I could handle it. I might have to go buy new “writing” clothes after all was said and done though.

No way! I’m absolutely perfect the way I am!

Naw. I don’t like wearing ‘nice’ clothes. I’m always in jeans and a t-shirt, except on hot days, then it’s shorts and a tank top when I get home *grin*

And I cut my own bangs just fine, thank you *cough*

First of all, you’re wearing shorts?! So envious. It’s still chilly here in NJ. As for the makeover and free, new wardrobe–heck yeah. Jumping up and down–”Pick me!”

Hey, t-shirts and shorts are the way to go! It was kinda funny at RT–I have 5 piercings in one ear and 2 in the other and I’m told I look too innocent to write erotic romance. Anyway, I was on an erotica panel and Susie Bright looks at me and says “what do you wear when you’re at home? Because a gal with that many piercings certainly doesn’t wear suits.” I had to laugh. I always wear suits to conferences, but at home it’s sleeveless t-shirts and jeans or shorts, and just something nice when I go out. Really, the only piercings I have are in my ears and no cartlidge piercings! :D

A new wardrobe would be wonderful but I
would not want to be on TV. So there you
go, it’s still my t-shirts, my 1 favorite
purple blouse and cotton slacks or jeans.

I prefer How Do I Look on the style network.

They give you outfits for special occasions (ie leaving the house) but still let you wear whatever the heck you want when you’re at home (jammies)!!

Let them? Hell, I’d issue an engraved invitation.
Suzanne, at least your T-shirts have sleeves. *snickering* I run around in tank tops. Now I have to know if you’re wearing flip-flops or tennies.
I’m a fashion rut slut. It is what it is. I could use a wee bit of help in that area.
    Grins*

Oh, now I want to be on that How Do I Look show if they let you KEEP your old clothes!! Must check that out!

Crystal, I wear sandals. Almost year-round. T-shirts and shorts, too. This worked better in Texas where it was warmer…..

No way am I giving up my t-shirts and shorts! I like being comfy. And I rarely go out anyway.

In a heartbeat! Five grand and a chance to shop in NYC? Of course I would. However, I’d only let them style the hair, but wouldn’t let them chop it off because I like it long.

Now, if they were willing do make over my HUSBAND — that’s half a heartbeat.

Those two are tame compared to Trinny and Susannah from the original What Not To Wear on BBC America. Part of me is masochistic enough to want them to come to America and go through my closet. The other half would be scared silly. LOL!

nope. I like most of my clothes that I actually wear. I’m in the middle of a major throwing out of clothes I don’t like. But if someone took away a few of my “comfort outfits”. Well, it just wouldn’t be pretty around here…

Your writer’s look is much like mine. Only difference is most days it ends up being a long t-shirt and no shorts. If I’m not going out that is. I don’t know if I would allow them to do that. Like others said above, there are some items in my wardrobe that I just wouldn’t want to give up. If I was allowed to keep those, then yes I probably would do it.

I’d trash all my clothes in a heartbeat for $5000 for a new wardrobe. Wouldn’t even make my heart ache one teensy weensy bit. :)

I would totally do it. Part of why I wear tshirts and jeans (or shorts) is I’m so clueless about all that! My best friend (who works for Lancome, but has worked for every cosmetics place out there) usually picks out all of my makeup because I haven’t the foggiest. Hair-I let the stylist do whatever she wants, and then, since I can never re-create the look she’s given me to begin with, I end up ponytailing it until my next hair appointment.

I for one see absolutely nothing wrong with this wardobe.

Not a CHANCE. I wear my hair long because I like it that way, not because it’s fashionable or looks great. I wear what I wear because I WANT TO.

Back away from the wardrobe Trinny and Susannah. You’re not laying your skinny-ass judgements on my clothing choices. So there.

Having said that… I own no shorts and only a couple of T-shirts (which I rarely wear). It’s never warm enough to wear shorts over here, and my legs never see the light of day anyway. And crew-neck tops make me feel like I’m choking.

Do I sound mad enough yet?

Mostly at home I wear sweats with a vareity of cami-pajama tops (you know, the pretty hidden bra-top ones) and an ever growing collection of cardigans. If I feel outrageous I’ll wear a skirt and a shawl…

And you so wish I was kidding.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
