Back Porch Parade

Jun

It starts with a light gathering….
IMG_8391
…that tends to grow.
IMG_8384
Questioning looks.
IMG_8395
Faces in the door.
IMG_8411
And more faces in the door.
IMG_8538
Maybe some leaping to capture attention.
IMG_8423
Nuzzling of empty feed cans.
IMG_8420
And standing by on call.
IMG_8427
And the big moment!
IMG_8498
Now the parade can really begin!
IMG_8500
Because, you see, nobody actually gets fed up here but nobody wants to miss the start!
IMG_8501
And off they go to the barn yard.
IMG_8506
Except for this straggler here who’d rather have a bottle of water on the porch.
IMG_8479
And sometimes a cookie. And sometimes an invitation to come inside.
IMG_8509
And look around.
IMG_8522
And go upstairs.
IMG_8535
And–

Morgan: “I told you that you shouldn’t let her in the house!”

It was okay, I swept it up…. My precious does no wrong.

I would love to see that parade!! What characters you have on your farm. Is that Ross or Weston home leading the parade? I couldn’t tell. At least you didn’t ask Morgan to clean up after your precious…..

Oh no, that little goat baby isn’t spoiled at ALL.

What funny animals you have on your farm. The pic of the goose cocking its head looking in the back door cracked me up.

Chickens who strut past sleeping dogs? A goat who does house inspections? A budding mining engineer who’s gathering pied piper credits? And, in a nod to Agatha Christie, a goat among the chickens—what sweet mystery is this?

…yes…. that’s a good life you are living. :snoopy:

Everyone love a parade, just be glad that the one that came into the house was not a horse.

Feeding time at the zoo! How does Weston like his summer job?

  8. holstein woman says:

I was wondering if the goat did that in the house. I guess some things just can’t be trained out of the little cuties.
I would love to have a parade every day like that. How lovely

We had goats who liked to come into the house. A nubian who would sneak in while my mom and I were unloading groceries from a CostCo trip, an alpine who ended up being a house milk goat because they were loose, and it was raining (Typical Washington State <333). We'd milk her in the kitchen, and she potty trained herself, all on her own, and would do her business before coming inside. xD And then Magpie was our Queen of the Herd LaMancha, who was near death (Cold) and we brought her inside and pumped her full of sugar, electrolytes, and vitamin B and so on. And she made a surprising come back. We'd had goats get sick like this, and didn't make it (Mostly babies).

She went from unable to get up (We had to roll her on her side and flex her legs regularly to avoid them stiffening) to being held up by a sling in the milking stand (Still in the back porch utility room) To standing on her own, but still with a sling to catch her. To staring out over the baby gate at the kitchen. And then she managed to get the baby gate down and took a stroll around the kitchen, calling for us. She was back out on the farm, pushing everyone else around just like old times, in no time. Unlike the alpine, she didn't deign to train herself.

    House goats are fun.
