Conversation with Clover

Me: “Clover, I didn’t appreciate your hoof in the milk bucket this morning.”

Clover: “I want a cookie.”

Me: “I also didn’t appreciate the way you kicked the rope off your hoof, twice, before you stepped in the bucket, or the way you looked at me afterward as if I were an evil troll.”

Clover: “I want a cookie.”

Me: “I need some cooperation here, Clover.”

Clover: “I want a cookie.”

Me: “This is about cheese! Forget the cookies! We’re supposed to be a team!”

Clover: “I. WANT. A. COOKIE.”

Me: “Coco! You’re in charge of these goats! Do something!”

Coco: “Do you want me to eat her cookie?”

COCO!!!

LOL Coco looks like she needs a nap. You know they make day long suckers, they need to make an all day cookies. How about a granola bar? They are chewy.

  2. Kathy says:

Coco I’ve missed you! My puppy would want the cookies AND the milk. He nursed for 12 weeks. The other pups in the litter were on their way to their new homes at 8 weeks–4 weeks of having ALL of Mama’s milk to himself has left him with an unnatural obsession with milk!

  3. LatigoLiz says:

Aw Clover! Ms. Pepper and Ms. Ginger in the PNW say hi!

  4. TeresaH says:

I want a cookie too!

  5. Carolyn A. says:

I noticed the changes in Clover’s face everytime she announced she wanted a cookie. Too funny! She’ll learn … no milk … no cookies! xxoo

  6. Cece says:

Exactly what I needed this morning! A big smile and a little giggle. :purr:
    Thank you so much.

    Cece

  7. Tresha says:

I cannot believe she is not getting more use to being milked by now! I must say…you must have the patience of Job…I would have been so frustrated at the whole process by now…but…this is why you have a successful blog and I get to enjoy the read!

    Tresh

  8. Shari C says:

I think I sense a theme here…cookies for everyone! Thanks for the big smile I have on my face this morning after reading your blog.

  9. jane says:

What is up Miss Clover – out of the ropes and in to the pail? Seems you are now in the goat house – loved your pictures though – you do have a way of making a face to get those cookies. and Coco- what is up here – taking a dip like nothing is going on – too early you say – I am not awake yet-

After that experience – I agree – cookies for everyone or maybe pie on the pie porch

  10. Heather Harper says:

I think Jill Shalvis has been talking to your goat.

  11. Lisa says:

I love that picture of Coco! The muzzle says, ‘Well, duh’ and the eyes say ‘I know I’m supposed to be the lessor of the two, but I’m not’.!

I took one of my foster dogs and my old Schnauzer to an auction on Saturday (to socialize the foster as he’s a 7 mos. old Collie pup). I had to check out the goats that they were selling (along w/ the llama’s, and sheep). I was trying to figure out which were milkers and which were meat.

  12. Mental P Mama says:

I swear that goat is talking to you. She is brilliant. David Letterman, here we come! :shimmy:

  13. Becky says:

Love those pics of Clover! And Cocoa is getting BIG!
Good luck with the milking and the dog training!
    What ever happened to Bluebell?

  14. Kalin says:

Well at least she’s consistent! 😀

  15. Suzanne McMinn says:

Becky, Bluebell didn’t do very well on the farm and we had to find a new home for her where she wouldn’t have farm animals to try to eat…. (I miss her! sob.)

  16. Imogene Birdette says:

Maybe the chickens are holding out for cookies before they start laying! Have you tried that?

  17. Abiga/karen says:

    Good Morning,
The first year must be the hardest getting started with the animals. I’m sure it will get better. Maybe when she has kids the next time milking will also come easier. Blessings.

  18. Kacey says:

LOL, well give Clover a cookie and see if that helps the cooperation level around there!! :cowsleep: 😎 :whip:

:whip: Oops, sorry. Just love to play with your smilies…

  19. Jill S. says:

Um, I’ll need a cookie too. Thank you.

  20. Jeannie B says:

    Suzanne,

You make my day! Clover, Coco, the kids (both kinds) and the chickens and ducks are just too much. Thanks for sharing your life. Mine is very booooooring.

  21. Shirley says:

I’m beginning to think Clover is going to win this war of the milk bucket.

  22. Maureen says:

    Love those Coco pictures!

  23. Amy Addison says:

Life on a farm is never easy, is it? You just keep crackin’ that whip. :whip:

It look like Coco has had enough of that darn goat. She just looks so put-upon.

  24. Jodie says:

I need a cookie to wake up to this morning! Please send one to Texas.

  25. Donna says:

LOL that Coco!!!! Little character!!! Clover is so precious. She’s having a “day” like we all do, at times. LOL

I don’t need a cookie, because I made Suzanne’s FABULOUS chocolate cake yesterday and it was sooooo good and I’ll have more today!!! I think her frosting turned out better – I need a tad more work on that, but it was YUMMY, Suzanne. I LOVED it!

  26. Donna says:

P.S. – oh and I LOVE hearing about your garden, because gardens and fruit trees fascinate me…I love to pick them. I LOVE watermelon. I am not familiar with varities but it sounded good!

  27. Beach Girl says:

I love the “Duh, who me?” look on Coco’s face. She has gotten so big and beautiful. I bet she eats you out of her share of cookies.

  28. Jennifer Robin says:

Your photography on this one is great! A real story telling series of pics. I love it!

  29. MacBean says:

your life if is sooo good. LOL. Ever think of calling “The Dogg Whisperer”? he might work with goats, just sayin’.

  30. hawkswench says:

You know its too bad they don’t make mini milking machines for goats like they do dairy cattle. It would save you from being kicked.

  31. Sarah S. says:

Looks like you have it all under control! :cowsleep:

  32. SuzieQ says:

Send me some cookies and I’ll come and hold Clover’s feet for you!! And I get to hug Coco!!

  33. Janice says:

:sheepjump: First time here…love your site.

  34. Brandy says:

*g* Aww, give Clover a cookie already!

  35. Susan C says:

It seems to me that you better start baking cookies soon! :sheepjump:

  36. Donna Mc says:

Wow – Coco has been growing like crazy!! I think she’s been sneaking everyone’s cookies. Or drinking Miracle Grow.

Maybe a good dose of benedryl for Clover…make her sleepy. *G*
OR cement galoshes…harder to kick & lift her feet. Good Gracious, I sound like I should be on the Sopranos! Nooo! I’m just teasing,… really.

  37. Tresha says:

Donna Mc….that totally cracked me up!

    swimmin with the fishes!

    hahahaa

  38. Bertie says:

    Clover photos are SO CUTE!!

  39. catslady says:

I agree – COOKIES FOR ALL!

  40. Tori Lennox says:

Hey, if you’re passing out cookies, I want one too!

  41. Jan from Tx says:

Would that be chocolate chip cookies? She ought to give extra milk for one. I’ll take hers if she won’t cooperate:).

  42. sunnid755 says:

great, now I want cookies, and milk, and cheese, and……
