Be honest. You would have taken this kitten home, too.

Even if you already had eight cats.

And six sheep, two goats (and a third on the way), two ducks (did I say two?), and 40-something chickens.

Did I say 40-something chickens? I’ll explain.

Oh, and by the way, there is something else coming.

I can’t tell you what that something else is.

It’s a surprise.

Kinda like Number Nine.

He was a surprise even to me.
img_767510
He’s pretty cute.
img_771521
Even when he’s crying.
img_76696
And he cries a lot.
img_76739
But mostly he’s just adorable.
img_76491
Morgan grabbed him while at my cousin’s farm the other day, just before she got on the school bus. He’s from a new litter from one of their feral barn cats. We’ve taken in one of the feral barn kittens before. (We still have Killer. He’s a giant cat now!) This kitten is no more than two to three weeks old. Too young to realize yet that humans are “bad” so she was able to pick him up. She talked Georgia into keeping him for her for the day and after school I couldn’t say no.

And so….
img_76685
….I present Number Nine! (He awaits a name based on his personality, or so I’ve been told. Me, I’m calling him Number Nine.) We’re feeding him cat milk with a dropper and he also will lick at a little bit of soft cat food mixed with cat milk.

Good thing I love cats.

Oh, and I love chickens, too.

The older chicks made their debut in the chicken yard last night.
img_77853
We already have 20 new chicks in the brooder. (It didn’t stay empty for long!)
img_77652
Buff Orpingtons, Silver-Laced Wyandottes, Barred Rocks, and Americaunas.

And….

….six new Pekin ducklings.
img_77541
It’s spring on the farm!
img_769315
And don’t forget the something else. Shhhhh. It’s a surprise! (Wanna make a guess?)

    I want your life!
    I guess turkeys.

  2. Dru says:

Number Nine is gorgeous. Is Clover expecting?

  3. jan 'n' tn says:

Now you’ve gone and dunnit’…Is what my BD would say…continuing with…the duck box/pond isn’t finished yet, the rest of the garden needs to get in, and now I have to enlarge the chicken yard too! He loves it when I give him things to do around the house. Nine is adorable, look at the toes in that pic (serious curtain climbers). I’d probably have to call him MONKEY. My guess is a MOOO COW to pasture with the sheep. Maybe it will remedy the clumping thing they’ve got going on. More ducks, more chickens, a screaming kitten, a surprise to look forward to—life is sooo goood!

  4. Nancy in Atlanta says:

Nope – I couldn’t have turned away from Number 9, either, but probably wouldn’t have had the courage to “grab” him at 2-3 weeks old! But looks like Morgan is already a good Mommy to him. You said cat milk – do you have a nursing cat on the farm? And the something else? I’m guessing either Pepsi or – drum roll – Clover is preggers?!!!

Your chicks and ducklings are adorable! :snoopy:

  5. jan 'n' tn says:

BTW—Happy Belated Birthday to the handsome young man, Weston.

  6. Kathryn says:

I am guessing Clover is udderly preggers. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

  7. CindyP says:

Happy Birthday, Weston!!! :snoopy: That cake looks scrumptious!

#9 was entirely too cute to be given back……the farm is growing, hugely, all the chicks and the ducks!! And I think the mystery something else is………… a miniature donkey?!?!?!

  8. Julie Andrea in Englehart, ON says:

hmmm … maybe YOU are preggars? hee hee

When I had a kitty that age, we also fed her milked down pablum, gradually increasing the thickness with more pablum as the days went by. She grew to think that whenever she heard the microwave humming and pinging that it was for her! LOL Good Luck with your new little precious!

  9. Suzanne McMinn says:

The ducklings are Pekins. No drivers license on Monday. He doesn’t get his drivers ed certificate for a few more weeks. (He’s in drivers ed this semester.)

  10. Kacey says:

Adorable kitty and cute ducklings! There’s always something exciting going on at your place!! :woof:

  11. Snapper says:

    Happy Belated to Wes!
    Fifty-Two is moving in? πŸ˜‰

  12. Jenny says:

Too cute. If only they stayed so little! My husband should really keep me out of feed stores, too. I have 29 chicks in our laundry room right now!
I’m guessing the earlier mentioned piglet is coming home soon. I’ve been seeing more ads every week in the Traders Guide for young pigs.
    ~Jenny~

  13. Julie says:

Hey, what’s one more??? He’s so cute!

  14. Nita in SC says:

I think you need a mule. Named Petunia.

  15. Stacy says:

I’m going to guess that coco is going to get a permanent live in man type dog!

  16. Rose says:

:snoopy: We have two guesses! I say a PONY but my daughter says a baby :fairy: LOL. Must have babies on the mind as we are waiting the arrival of a niece/nephew/cousin at the end of the month. Whatever your surprise is we are sure it will be cute! :dancingmonster: Happy Spring from Rose and Tess in VT

  17. Ang. says:

Awww, baby cuteness!!! I love spring. πŸ™‚ I am bottling raising a kitten, too. I think since Number Nine’s teeth seem to be fully grown in he is actually around 4 weeks. Mine just turned 5 weeks yesterday and his teeth were fully in the week before. Have fun with him!!

And I think you are getting a calf.

  18. mattilda says:

Are you marrying 52????? Is he the new addition??

  19. beekudzu says:

Yes, I would have brought him home even if I had 10 cats at home. Or 11 or 12. How could you resist that face?! (I’m a cat lover, too. I have 2 that let me live with them.)

    I’m guessing it’s Clover, too.

  20. Stacia says:

The kitten is adorable and I love the little ducklings! I guess that Clover is expecting. I wish I had your life!

  21. Cyndi Lewis says:

I think you are getting a piglet! Love the kitty and the chicks!

  22. Leah says:

The kitten is too cute for words. The ducklings are sooo sweet I just want to grab one.My guess as to the surprise…….a puppy! :woof: :woof:

  23. Diane says:

The kitten is too cute for words. Happy birthday to Wesley. I have a niece turning 16 this week. All eager to get her permit. My dd here at home will be 16 next year. I can get it though my head they will be old enough to drive. Its nuts.

52 is moving in and you are getting married?
Pepsi is comming to the farm!!!
    Pig?
I thought mabe a cow or two?
    A boyfirend for Coco. lol.
Cant wait to hear what it is.

  24. Carol says:

I’m going with Clover being pregnant. I also agree with Nita; you need a donkey. Is that the same as a mule? Anyway, a donkey would be a good addition.
I wouldn’t have been able to say no to No. Nine either. If my husband didn’t keep me in check, I’d have a lot more pets than just two cats and a Boston Terrier. My mom had 18 cats. I don’t know if I could handle that many. I am allergic to the little cuties after all!
Can’t wait to see the new addition!

  25. monica says:

My little N. loves your site. We scrolled through the pics twice before even reading any of it.

Maybe some of your sheep are pregnant? See they clump for a reason, (well a boy and a girl. . .) I bet you might still have a piglet or two, despite the flu outbreak. Could be a horse for your daughter, too. Or a boyfriend for Coco.

  26. CATRAY44 says:

A milk cow and calve… and a baby Clover!

  27. Lucy says:

Oh I love baby kittens so much. They are so adorable and so perfectly created. These pictures are priceless.

  28. Taiya says:

I am not a cat person(highly allergic), but I do love some good kitten antics, and I can definitely appreciate such a cute model for photos!

  29. Heidi says:

Awww, I couldn’t have said no to Number Nine either.

I’m going to guess the something else is a donkey. (Only because when we get goats I want a guard donkey.)

  30. Staci says:

    I love yellow striped kitties!

I’m thinking you’re getting a cow, or another dog, or Clover is going to be a mama again. :duck:

  31. Claudia W. says:

I want to say a horse for Morgan. Every Princess needs a stead!

  32. Kris7 says:

I love Number Nine. His eyes remind me of the guinea pig from the movie, Bedtime Stories. So expressive.

Everyone’s guesses seem appropriate for your new addition. With each comment, I think, “oh yes, that’s surely what the surprise is.”

    Working hard at http://www.sccworlds.com

  33. Kara S says:

Number Nine is adorable! He looks like he might be long haired too. πŸ™‚

My guess at the new addition, besides a baby goat or two, is a calf or milk cow! Think of what you could do with a couple of gallons of fresh cow milk each day! The cheeses, sauces, yogurts, cream, butter…Yum. πŸ™‚ It would be like having 10 Clovers!

  34. MissyinWV says:

:sun2: I love it when I pull up your site and the first thing I do is go “Awwwwwwwww”. Spring has your farm full life! I won’t guess about the suprise but I can’t wait! Hope Coco is takin to all the new animals.

  35. Heidi says:

OH Call him Niner – not nooner – NINER!!!.. LOL sorry, got nothin going for me today for comments…. blah… LOL

  36. trish says:

Happy Birthday Weston. My daughter Megan turned 22 today!!!
    I hope Clover is pregooo!

  37. Remudamom says:

Well, I know you need a pony and cart. If you were closer to Kansas I’d lend you Jedi for the summer. She needs a job for the next six months.

I vote you get a pony!

  38. Fencepost says:

    Happy Birthday, Weston!
    That first picture is adorable.
    I’m guessing a male Coco!

  39. becki says:

    First guess: Clover’s pregnant.

    Second guess: Coco is pregnant.

Third guess: Ed Mcmahon called and wants to make sure you plan on being home Sunday afternoon and is double checking how many creeks have to be crossed to get to the new farmhouse.

Fourth guess: Don’t go there, Becki.

  40. Treasia/TruckersWife says:

Those pictures are just adorable. Love the new little ducks. they are so cute. Number 9 is very cute and cuddly looking to. We now have a house full of cats and kittens. They are going to start calling me the crazy cat lady before long. Our two females each had a litter of five. then yesterday the neighbors brought over two new kittens (look to be about 4 weeks old) that they found in their backyard. Can’t find the mother and no idea where they came from. So we brought them inside and they are now part of the family too. Nursing on both mother kittens and playing with everyone.

  41. jean says:

Is my Coco pregnant? Yes, I said “my Coco”, since I’m sure she is mine. Lalalala, I can’t hear you. She is all mine.

  42. Taryn says:

Since you have mentioned Pepsi and we know Clover went to be bred, I am guessing piglets? Or maybe it is the girl Fainting Goat to go with Pepsi. Will you name her Sprite?

  43. catslady says:

Happy Birthday, Weston!!! My oldest turns 25 tomorrow – quarter century lol.
Niner is adorable. Reminds me of my kitten that didn’t make it (sigh).
I’m guessing it’s time to get the piglet from the dark angel?

  44. Linda says:

    Happy Birthday to Weston!!
Love all the new spring babies on your farm.
    I hope Clover is pregnant.

  45. Kim W says:

If only they would stay that way! Blessings from Ohio…

  46. Cranberry says:

I have a feeling a Llama is on the way – ? or how about a little piggy???? Dad and I took home the one pig my family had, on the passenger floor of our car from S.D. to N.D., he was a wonderful guy. The geese loved his tail! he loved the plastic children’s swimming pool, mom spoiled him rotten. We did NOT eat him, a family? took him in the backseat of their car after he got too big…

  47. Dawn says:

I have two guesses–Clover is gonna have a baby or you’re getting a spouse for the giant puppy.

  48. Ms E says:

Pic #3 just melts my heart, total preciousness! My guess, or should I say my HOPE…a Scotish Highlander cow. PLEASE!

  49. Wendy says:

I think a pig is coming. And I would keep the name Number Nine. Very original.

  50. Susan says:

Number Nine is such a cutie! Are you getting a cow?

  51. Susie says:

LOL. I’m guessing it is a pig? How many cats do ya have in the house now? This new kitty sure loves your daughter. I love seeing all your farm animals. Susie πŸ˜€

  52. Ulrike says:

Guess? Um… A miniature cow (https://www.minicattlecountry.com/page3.html)? Or a sheep herding dog?

  53. Gini says:

*gasp* IS THERE A NEW TEENY CLOVER ON THE WAY?!

    My other guess is….piglets!

  54. monica says:

Coco had a small visitor a few weeks ago. Small hanky panky still makes a bunch of babies sometimes.

  55. Mim says:

A llama would be a nice addition to your “little” farm. Not only do they give you really soft fleece for yarn, they are very good at guarding. My llama really watches out for my 3 alpacas and he is only 1 1/2 yrs old. :ladybug:

  56. Lisa in California says:

I’m guessing Clover is pregnant. BUT, I know you want donkeys too, so maybe you are getting one?

  57. KentuckyFarmGirl says:

I’m guessing a pig too!! Number 9 is so cute! I would have about that many in the house if DH wasn’t allergic to them! Cats that is, not pigs! I hope you don’t mind that I left a link to your vanilla recipe on one of my blog recipes (Old-fashioned Raisin Cake). I plan on making a big bottle myself!

  58. Michelle says:

Oh yea, I would have taken that cutie home too! I already have three but if I had a farm, so easy for me to add another. Lol! I have no clue what else is coming. I’m new to your blog and wouldn’t want to make a silly guess like an Elephant. LOL!

I come here just to get my animal fix. Love it!!

  59. shirley says:

Where do I start? The kitty, the chicks, the ducks, the handsome birthday boy, the chocolate birthday cake? The ch…ch..chocolate bbb…bbbirthday cake??? (slaps myself)Ok.I’m ok now.
That little kitten is what I call an orange marmalade, and I adore it.What a lucky little guy to be taken to live at Stringtown Rising Farm.
    I’m jealous.

  60. Diane says:

Number nine is soooooooo cute. I just love his eyes!!!! I definitely would have taken him home. There is just no way I could have left him….You are so lucky!

  61. wildcat says:

Whatever the surprise is, I’m sure it will be something FUN. Are you getting an emu? What about a pretty peacock? Or a miniature horse? I can’t wait to see what the new addition is!

BTW – Niner and the ducklings are cute beyond words! How do you stand it? LOL

  62. anni says:

I’m guessing a horse for Morgan, that’s what Robyn says anyway
    can’t wait to find out,
    When ya going to tell?
    huh? huh? huh?
    tell us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    waiting in suspense from Toronto
    anni

  63. Frana says:

Number nine is very cute! He looks like a mouse, at first glance I tought that he was one. Therefore I would call him Mouse – is that a strange name for a cat? πŸ˜†

  64. Dana says:

My guess is either a Cow :cowsleep: :moo: or a pig :pinkpig: !!

  65. Lana says:

Plan ahead for an outdoor Nativity scene. Get a donkey!

  66. wildcat says:

A monkey would be a fun addition to the farm.

  67. kd (small caps) says:

How about a pig or a cow…you don’t have either yet. I can see you enjoying fresh milk and, do I dare say it, fresh bacon/sausage.

  68. Alison says:

The kitten and chicks are so cute. I still think you should get a silkie ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/breeds/bantams_silkies.html ) It would happily sit on any eggs you wanted hatched. I have even seen them raise ducks. It is amusing how frantic they get when the ducklings decide to go for a swim.

  69. gwen says:

ooh he is adorable, found a name already?
i always had cats, but since the last one died, we held off a bit.
but now i cannot wait to get one again, at least on hahaha
    they are so wonderfull.
lots of fun with this little terror πŸ˜†

    hugs
    gwen πŸ™‚

  70. Stephanie says:

    Suzanne!!! Are you prenant??? πŸ˜‰

  71. Lynn says:

Two goats? When did one go? Nutmeg? I missed that.

  72. tammathau says:

All your kitties are in the house? What kind of litter do you use? I have 2 inside and scoop everyday and it drives me CRAZY!!!

  73. monica says:

We have been good! Please tell us who or what is pregnant! Little n. is dying to see more pictures! :hissyfit:

  74. Sheryl says:

I will bet that the “new something” is a goatling from Clover!
That number 9 is just too cute for words! Ditto for those ducklings! I want a kitten and ducklings!

  75. Donna says:

Ohhh, those are the CUTEST duckers!!!!!! I LOVE ducks! All we have are squirrels and a rabbit and birds in our subdivision. LOL

That kitty, how PRECIOUS is he! His name should be “crat” because all cats are rats. LOL That’s what my husband says and calls them CRATS. I love him snuggling Morgen’s neck!

Where in the world do you find cat milk to feed him????? Precious.

  76. Jodie says:

Kitty = CUTE! My guess is 52 is moving in.

  77. Jackie says:

Eep! Number Nine is precious! I love orange cats. My cats have all been orange so far. Well…all two of them.

  78. Amy W. says:

Can I bury my face in your ducks?

Did I just say that out loud? :chicken:

  79. Pam says:

    Awwwwwwwwwwwwww! Sooooooooooo cute!!!- Pam

  80. Karen C. says:

i think number 9 is the title of a beatles song…the white album.

  81. M Davidson says:

But Suzanne, where do you get CAT MILK??
