Suspect Arrested in Egg Case

Stringtown, West Virginia.

A recent steep decline in egg production at a Stringtown facility was explained over the weekend when a large supply of nested products was uncovered by a farmer high atop haystacks.

Further inspection revealed the eggs, spread over two nests, numbered nearly three dozen. Investigators believe multiple hens were involved in the bootleg activity.

Previous production locations appeared to have been abandoned in the days preceding the discovery, though theft from the operation was suspected as a possible cause of the seeming decline in egg outlay. A person of interest in the case, Casper, known on the streets as Casper the Terrible, was identified early on by authorities.

Workers expressed outrage over the new egg removals, calling it yet another violation.

Speckled Hen: “I’m devastated. Now I have to start all over.”

Little Red Hen: “I’m calling my Congresshen.”

According to the farmer, the eggs belong to her.

The suspect denied all charges, though a body language expert detected deceit in his behavior.

Casper the Terrible was arrested and booked into the Stringtown Rising Farm porch penitentiary pending further questioning.

Or petting.

Oh but he is sooo cute! He looks lees like a pup all of a sudden!

Not having a confined area makes it hard to make sure the eggs are fresh. Other than that I can’t see much of a downside to free range, although I am sure you have a whole list!

  6. Grandmatotwochicks says:

I LOVE Casper! Made my night tooooooooo! sneaky little devils! :snoopy:

I hope he’s not eating them.
Cause if he’s ever gotten a taste he’ll never leave them be.
It’s where the phrase “Dirty Old Egg Sucking Dog” came from.
But I’m guessing you’ve figured that out. tee hee

  12. northcountrygirl says:

That was cute! You are such a good writer! As for Casper, he sure gets himself in some situations. Let’s hope the “jail time” will teach him a lesson. That is, until the next time…

Delightful. Thanks for the warm fuzzies!

Send the police over this way. We have 9 layers and were averaging 7 eggs each day. That was until about 3 weeks ago. We droped to 4 eggs each day. I blamed it on the heat. DH was moving some wood and he found 2 nests with over 40 eggs in them. I lined “the girls” up and gave them a good talking to. Hope it helps!

Train (Ha ha!), train him to carry the egg bucket when you go to collect. That way his mouth will be full. Yeah, you don’t want to let him get a taste for raw egg. I’m sure he’d be so easy to train, as calm as he is. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  31. Susan at Charm of the Carolines says:

I’ve heard hens can be very sneaky and then you end up with babies you weren’t expecting. Maybe Casper was actually helping control the chickenbaby population? Besides, look at that face. So sweet and innocent, I can hear a young Donny Osmond singing in the background.

  32. trish says:
