The Goat Channel

Goats are an endless source of amusement. They are clever animals, and they love to play. I can, and do, watch them for hours. It’s like having my own little entertainment network right off my front porch. In case you don’t have goats in your front yard (and why ever not???), I’ll share mine.

The fun starts like this, with a little head-butting.

Or sometimes like this, “bothering” each other by batting hooves on whoever happens by or climbing on their back.

Next thing you know they’re standing on two legs.

Leaping.

Cavorting.

And frolicking.

I love the standing up on two legs the best.

Nutmeg is really good at it.

I think she likes to show off.

Sometimes Honey and Nutmeg forget what they’re doing and get mama involved.

“Don’t do it, Honey!”

“You’re gonna be sorry! Don’t you remember…..

….what she did to that cat?”

THUNK.

Honey picked himself up halfway across the goat yard.

Clover: “Show’s over. I would like a cookie now. Oh, and I’ll take their cookies, too, thank you. And if that cat had anything, send it here. I’m its new address. WANT TO TRY MILKING ME NOW, WOMAN? I’M IN THE MOOD.”

Whoa! That kitty had the look of, “Come on, make my day!” I love to see goats playing, they are so funny and they never seem to tire of it. I like when they stand up too. Thanks for sharing the great pics.

    Funny post, Suzanne!
You almost make me want to get goats. The Captain says, no way. So I’m settling for chickens.

  5. Heidi533 says:

They are just too cute! I don’t know how you get anything done with all those animals around. I think I would spend all day outside playing with them. (at least until it snowed)

  6. Janet says:

I think the goat antics are cute. I would probably sit out on the front porch and watch, too.

  7. Cece says:

I am sure I could watch them for hours. I LOVE your stories. Any chance you will rent out a room for a week long summer retreat? Thanks for the right start to another chilly morning.

Love the goats! It looks as if they’ve got LOTS of space to cavort. That makes me happy for them.

P.S. Did your cousin win reelection?

Oh I wish we had goats here at the house, I would cancel our satellite because I’m sure I’d be watching them all the time too. I’d cancel our lawn service too, I bet they’re great lawnmowers!

  11. Lena says:

You’re right – goats make some very interesting pets. We my daughter was quite young (6 or 7) we had a billy goat who was an absolute doll with the exception that he wanted to be a HOUSE goat. He would stand on the deck and beg to come in the house. Loved to ride in my husband’s pickup. He’d jump in, plant his behind on the seat and his front paws on the dash and they would go down the road.

  12. Amanda T. says:

Those goats…they are soooo much fun. I would watch them for hours too Suzanne!!! I’d NEVER get anything done, between playing with them and Coco!! And Dukie and the cats. LOL :sheepjump:

  16. Donna says:

P.S. – when I saw the picture “Leaping”..I read it too fast, thinking it said “laughing” because my parakeet has numerous laughs that crack us up!

  17. Claudia W. says:

I’m hoping that when we had goats over for a couple of days a while back that the itchy watery eyes were just from some other fluke of nature. I would not like to think I am allergic to them, cause I want a few when we get our property!
Your goats continue to be cuter than ever.

  18. Nancy in Atlanta says:

Goat cards!!! Goat calendars!! More goats!!! :catmeow:
