Camp Sheppard

Camp Sheppard is located in Gandeeville, West Virginia, directly accessible from State Highway 119, in peaceful, rural Roane County. The camp, operated by the WVU Extension Service, is surrounded by the scenic hills and trees that make this state wild and wonderful. The hall and cabins are handicap-accessible. Each cabin can accommodate up to 30 people in dormitory style, however we place approximately half that number of attendees per cabin for your comfort. We guarantee a lower bunk to every attendee. The accommodations for men and women are separate. The bathrooms are well-appointed with multiple sinks, showers, toilets, and privacy curtains inside every cabin. Each attendee will need to bring their own twin sheets, blanket, pillow, and towel.

Cell service is limited in rural areas. AT&T cell coverage is available at Camp Sheppard. Emergency phones for local calls are at the camp if needed. There is no internet access at Camp Sheppard.

There are six RV sites, with electric, available at Camp Sheppard at an additional charge. Each site can accommodate an RV that is 45-55 feet long. There is no dump site or extra water source. They will fill tanks once on arrival.

Campers may be parked at no additional charge at Camp Sheppard. (They must not be parked at the RV sites.) There is no electric or water provided for campers, but attendees sleeping in their own campers will be provided access to showers and bathrooms.

Pets are allowed at the RV sites and in the camper areas, but must be leashed and supervised when outside the RV or camper. Pets are not allowed inside the hall or cabins. Dogs may not be tied out.

You may bring non-attendees with you to stay in your camper or RV, including children. Children must be supervised at all times by a non-attendee adult. Only paid attendees may eat in the hall and attend classes. Paid attendees to the annual retreat must be 18 years or older.

There are no barbeque/cook-out facilities available for use by non-attendees.

Please note: Firearms, alcoholic beverages, and illegal drugs are not permitted at Camp Sheppard.
