And Then There Were None

The children have left the building!!!! THEY WENT TO SCHOOL TODAY! I’M ALONE!!!

I’m alone because the roofers haven’t shown up since Monday. No doubt this is because:

A) They knew that school was starting on Thursday so WHY POUND ON THE ROOF WHEN THE KIDS ARE HERE? WHY NOT WAIT TILL THEY’RE GONE SO THAT JUST WHEN SHE THINKS THERE WILL BE PEACE AND QUIET, THERE WON’T BE.

B) They couldn’t tear themselves away from their trailer homes where they are drinking with their cousins who they married and calling their mamas in prison…. THIS IS NORTH CAROLINA.

C) They found my blog and realized they are NOT BUFF ENOUGH to work on my house.

D) They thought it might rain. NOT THAT IT DID RAIN. They just THOUGHT it MIGHT rain.

Your guess is as good as mine, but I’m going with B.

VERY rude of people to talk about being ALONE so early in the morning. Just not Right! Hope the roofers show up….or not.
My five year old is picking out a smilie.

  2. Cherlyn says:

I’m betting it’s choice C, and they’re at the gym and going to their scheduled rounds of consultation appointments with plastic surgeons. 😯

  3. Beth C says:

Heh-heh. Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can! And I’m with Cherlyn. I think it’s C and they’re at the gym… if you’re lucky. :bananadance:

  4. Jennifer says:

I love my kids dearly, but I’m also so glad they went to school today.

    :guitar::bananadance:

  5. Eve says:

All of the above – they knew they had a few days before the kids left and they spent that time in their trailers watching Jerry Springer for relationship help and since they knew it was going to rain because Uncle/Grandpa Joe Bob’s rheumetism is acting up (or is it the moonshine) so now they’re at the gym trying to get buff.

  6. Estella Kissell says:

I always thought the first day of school should be declared a holiday for Moms. As for the roofers—they will show up–
after the first good rain. Never fails in Oregon.

  7. Peggy says:

Lucky you, Suzanne, to have the house to yourself. BTW, first day back on a Thursday??? It just dawned on me now. What, they couldn’t wait until after the weekend and have them start on a Monday?

  8. Jill says:

I’m green with jealousy that your kids are in school. I have two more weeks …

  9. Melissa says:

    I say A,B and D 😆

  10. Mary says:

They knew you needed quiet so they are giving you a break.:bananadance:

    {{{Suzanne}}} :rotfl:

  12. Suzanne says:

They always do that–start school on Wednesday or Thursday. They did that in Texas, too. It’s kind of weird. I guess they think the kids can’t handle a full week the first week back? Or the teachers can’t. They have to break them in slowly.

  13. Melissa Marsh says:

    Ohh, what a bittersweet picture.
My kids start on Monday – but they’ll get out an hour early for a week. Since my daughter only has a half day, she’ll be quite spoiled – class for only two hours!

  14. Kelly says:

Hah, my roof is done! :hyper:

  15. Teresa says:

Sorry about the roofers! Construction always stinks! But enjoy the peace and quiet while you can.

  16. Toni Anderson says:

You think they have computers in their trailers???

My roof was delayed because it was windy. Not a lot windy-a zephyr windy ❗

    Men, what are they like?

  17. Tori says:

I say all of the above. :rotfl:

As for school starting, the kids here started last week on Friday. Seems weird to me.

  18. Lis says:

I’m going with a mix of B & C. Maybe there was a Jerry Springer ‘Too Hot For Springer’ marathon that couldn’t be missed :rotfl:

  19. Mik says:

HAHA! Congrats on being alone. Hope you get lots done. I’m going to go with B, too.

  20. Jordan says:

:bananadance: Of course, the flipside to this celebration is that you have to get to work. 😉

  21. Michelle says:

Aren’t you glad they’re back in school? Ours don’t start until after Labor Day.

  22. Melissa Mc says:

    C. It’s gotta be C.

Congrats on the beginning of school. I can only imagine what it is like to have all three in school at the same time. Someday…

    Melissa

  23. Steph T. says:

We start with kids midweek in NY too – teachers start on Tues, kids come in on Wed.

Maybe the roofers got kidnapped by the roving band of SEALs, who will show up tomorrow instead? *crosses fingers*

  24. ruby55 says:

For the guys I think it’s C. They want to surprise you. Hope they stayed away so you can have the house all to yourself. I always love having everything quiet around me.

Having once been a teacher, I say that they start mid-week because of the fatigue it causes the teachers. I remember that the first days of school, I was so exhausted (school time 0745 to 1300) that all I could do was go home, lie down and have a long nap.

  25. Cynthia says:

    Enjoy your lovely, quiet, home!!

  26. Mary Stella says:

You have half-naked roofers, but we used to have one in the Keys who worked wearing only sun tan oil, his tool belt, boots and a thong!! Man was tres buff, too!

    *sigh* I miss him.

  27. Shannon says:

Hey, my uncle’s roofing your house?

    Cool!

    :rotfl:

  28. Amy K. says:

Hope your quiet day was a little slice of heaven! Maybe the roofers will show up on the weekend, when chaos ensues anyway.

  29. Danica says:

    Enjoy the freedom!:bananadance:
