State of Desperation

My perverted goose barely left the chicken house yesterday. He woefully paced back and forth in front of it and around it, missing his hens.

Today, things have moved have sad to worse.

He’s rubbing up against this pole on the hitching post in the barn yard.
IMG_6852
Flapping his wings, honking, wrapping his long neck around it. And rubbing. Lots of rubbing.

Then he saw me taking pictures and he got embarrassed.

And I think I’m afraid to go into the barn yard.

    He needs a girlfriend – STAT! 😀

  2. CATRAY44 says:

Oh my word, lol. Hide the goats!

  3. Old Geezer says:

Pack him up and take him on a shopping spree. It will take his mind off the missing hens.

There’s a Gander Mountain store in Charleston. Perfect.

  4. Sue, a Florida Farm Girl says:

OMG, I burst out laughing!! Poor guy.

  5. Snapper119 says:

Whhhaaaatttt? Is he…? Why, yes…! I think he is… I’m sure he is…! Suzanne, if you look closely at that last picture, I’m p r e t t y sure he is winking at you! LOL! 😆

(And maybe that is why the sweaty hired men won’t take their shirts off either…..)

This saga of the Lovelorn Goose gets funnier with each day. I have never known a barnyard fowl to be so enamored of someone outside his species. Is there a goose psychiatrist near by?

  7. Merino Mama says:

Get that gander a goose! How sad!

  8. jerseygirl51 says:

These posts are making my day! How sad for him, 🙁 He needs a girlfriend.

  9. mylittlesoapbox says:

Oh this makes me just terribly sad. Geese are not meant to be alone. They actually become more neurotic and erratic. Is there anyone locally who might have a goose of any breed?

  10. beforethedawn says:

Oh my, that is hilarious! Poor Mr. Goose. He needs his own harem of goosey ladies.

  11. outbackfarm says:

Aw, that is just so sad. Poor lonely guy.

  12. jodiezoeller says:

Can’t you leave him with the chickens for now? He needs his flock!

  13. ibpallets (Sharon B.) says:

The pics and captions are too funny!
    Poor Sultan!

  14. Jan Hodges says:

I’m with the rest who think he really needs a goose.

  15. Donna says:

Hmmm… I can see a children’s book in this somewhere (leaving out the naughty bits, of course!). Somehow, despite his misguided habits, inside that gander lurks a hero. :clover:

  16. dmcfarland says:

Would it be possible to section a part of the henhouse for him without access to the hen section until you get more geese? Keep him happy so he doesn’t decide to look for another flock and come to harm. Obviously he needs a family group or flock of some type.

  17. California Paintbrush says:

:snuggle: Suzanne, he needs a goose. Valentines day is almost here!

  18. Sheryl says:

I’m dyin’ laughing here! This is hysterical! That gander needs a whole flock of geese, to satisfy his appetite!

  19. bonita says:

I understand your plate is full. . . You have ^ several pressing priorities. But I’m wondering if such strong pining can lead to nastiness on the part of your Blue Goose. My aunt and uncle had a single male goose, and he was a mean SOB. Really mean, went after people. Only reason Uncle Tony put up with the goos was that the goose had caught a young copperhead.

  20. jamitysmom says:

I think wkf has a good idea – that would make a wonderful little flock for Suzanne! Poor goose! I was going to suggest that you (Suzanne) call Holderread Waterfowl to see if they had any left this year! Maybe that’s who you were going to use? I do hope you find a little goose for your gander. He’s really lonely.

In between laughing I’m so sorry for that poor gander. Please, please BORROW another goose if nothing more! He looks so pathetically lonely and lovelorn.

  22. emmachisett says:

I’m sure someone reading this post has a goose to spare…in the last picture, your gander looks so deprived and forlorn. He NEEDS a mate.

  23. bbkrehmeyer says:

That gander doesnt care if its a white goose.a blue goose a pink goose or a green goose. Just get him some(more than one) geese’ And yes,he could become violent and you would have to have a goose dinner bluk!!!!
