Wow! Nothing like doing labor and delivery every day and having someone eat the results. lol

You may want to think about clipping his spurs. He’s probably injuring the girls when he mounts them. Found this out the hard way with mine. They ended up with deep puncture wounds from the rooster’s spurs.

  2. Rose H says:

That’s hillarious! Thank you too as I’d never seen a hen lay an egg 8)

  3. Old Geezer says:

I distinctly heard him say, “Remember to breathe! Puff, puff, puff, puff, puff, NOW PUUUUUUUSH! PUUUUUUUSH!”

  4. easygoinglady says:

Can’t get an egg any fresher than that! Breakfast is served.:hungry:
Fathers are there for the delivery a lot more these days. :snuggle:

  5. SarahGrace says:

    Love it! Absolutely love it!

  6. fowlers says:

God love her! guess now it’s time for some toast & coffee oh and maybe an egg. Tee hee ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. wtrmllngirl says:

She looked so CONFUSED after she laid it! “What on earth just happened???” ๐Ÿ˜†

  8. Murphala says:

I love how the egg pops out and they both stand there, staring straight ahead as if saying “OK, now what?” “I dunno.” :chicken:

Love it! I never saw the laying process either but I was filled with gladness that I’m not a chicken who goes through this each and every day!

  9. nookworm says:

Do today’s generation REALLY know where eggs come from and HOW they get here?? Just wondering…
She had a definite look of concentration at the time, didn’t she? Love it!

  10. Auntie Linda says:

That was fantastic! I’d never seen the entire process before. Awesome!

  11. Karen H says:

Thank you for this video. I also have never seen the whole process of egg laying even though we had chickens when I was young. Do you think it is painful for her? Was the rooster really waiting so he could eat the egg, as one person suggested?

  12. GA_in_GA says:

    Nice video!

To think the hens go through this process nearly daily always amazes me. My roos tend to join in crowing when the hens sing their egg songs.

  13. marymac says:

loved the video, and you did a gret job filming that, sure it took a lot longer than the length of the video. Cudos to you!!

  14. KristinaMTT says:

Do they always have a moment of silence afterward? That is the first time I saw a hen lay an egg. Fascinating! Thank you for sharing!

  15. MonkeyPhil says:

All that work, the straining and then someone comes along and takes her prize. I wonder if she will return again tomorrow and go through the same performance.

  16. STH says:

Fun! I love that little dance she does when she’s got her butt to the camera. Thanks, Suzanne!

  17. NancyL says:

I am still amazed – I’m another one who has never seen this happen! I had the same thought many of the other commenters did – can you imagine “giving birth” every day? Several times a day? What a production – what a fantastic video!!!

  18. Jane L says:

Darn, that looked painful for the poor girl! That is one of the reasons I do not buy x-large eggs! I thought the old boy was being terribly sweet making sure she wasn’t troubled. He kept his eye on you the entire time!

  19. bbkrehmeyer says:

how rude! he was not being protective, he was just being male. waitin for her to finish her work.so he could have some fun… danged male anyway! !!!!

  20. lesliedgray says:

LOL! I love watching my girls lay!

  21. CarrieJ says:

OMG! That’s a first for me.

  22. TheEnchantedBath says:

    Oh how sweet . . . and . . . errr . . . painful. They both looked a little shell-shocked after the big moment. Pun intended ๐Ÿ˜‰
