Yesterday, my friends at the goat farm brought a sweet one-week-old, blue-eyed Nigerian Dwarf buckling for a visit to see us. Since Clover didn’t end up pregnant this year, I’m already looking ahead to next year. Our own buck. A way to breed Clover and Nutmeg without sending them away from the farm. And we need a buddy for Pepsi.

I think this adorable little baby buckling is just the ticket. I sat on the porch and held him and held him and held him and Missy had to FIGHT ME TO TAKE HIM HOME. I said, YOU CAN’T TAKE ME, WOMAN. And she smacked me and stole him from my arms. Or something like that. It was messy, let me tell you.

He’s about the size of a cat. And he just rested his head on my chest and snuggled. Some day when I have goat babies of my own, that’s all I’m going to do. Sit on the porch and snuggle them. Then maybe take them inside and put baby bonnets on them and sing them nursery rhymes.

I asked Clover if she liked younger men and if maybe, just maybe, next spring when he was old enough she would let him be her boyfriend.

Clover: “He does smell like cookies. And I always wanted a boy toy.”

It’s a deal!

See all the babies this year at Destiny Groves Farm.

I am curious who is Clover’s sire and dam and who is Nutmeg’s sire?

I want a cow though. I reallllly want a milk cow. I would read it Shakespeare and it would be my best friend. I would name her Esmerelda. 🙂

:happyflower: That is the sweetest little baby I’ve seen in a long time! He’ll fit right in with the crew! I’d name him Baby Blue! Now you can sew him a cute little outfit for his homecoming. I bet the kids love him. Have a great day! :shimmy:

  15. Jenn FL says:

    Great … now I want a baby goat………..

    *sigh*

  16. jean says:

Clover you are such a hussy. A “boy toy”? Really? And for what? A few extra cookies. Hold out for chocolate and not the cheap stuff, you want the imported stuff.

  17. monica says:

Little N. wants one now! I don’t think we would be allowed to have one though–we are at the limit with buildings per square foot as it is.
Only a true romance writer would think to say “feminine center quivering”, especially about a goat!

  18. Karen/Abiga says:

We love little baby goats too. Our two mama goats kidded this spring. Starberry had a boy and girl; Havanah had two doelings. It is so fun to see how their coloring comes out. Havanah has blue eyes and one of her babies looks so much like her and even acts like her. The other has such a different personality so quiet and shy. Starberry’s girl is so nosy and jumps up on everything and can get out of the pen. None of the others figured out how to do that nor can they jump like her. We also have to figure out how to breed them when the time comes since we don’t have a buck and noone around here has one close by. Out goats were not cooperative milkers and did not give us a lot for their first time around so we are not wanting to invest in the fencing and separate quarters to get our own buck if we can’t seem to milk them. Blessings.

  19. Estella says:

    He is so cute!

  20. SuzieQ says:

Went to their site and looked at the babies. Like potato chips, I couldn’t stop with just one. Cutest things I’ve seen in a long time. I’d want one to be a “house goat” and live inside with me and my two dogs. Can they be litter trained, do ya know?? :woof: :snoopy:

  21. Jennifer says:

    Too, too cute…

One day I hope to have your life…work from home, bake cookies for Clover & enjoy the quiet mountain life.

But for now, it’s washing Army uniforms, sweeping up the dirt brought in from the combat boots & fumbling over how to speak Korean.

    Don’t suppose you’d consider swapping?

Much love from an overseas Army wife,
    Jennifer
