that is so cool Suzanne! I can hardly wait till you show us a basket full of different colored eggs! But you just KNOW the pink ones must taste the best! :rotfl:

  2. The Jillybean says:

Haha, you have Easter Eggs without having to dye them.

  3. beth says:

YAY!! :woof: Congratulations on your pink egg!!

Not sure when my girls will start laying. I suspect it will be a while. The man I bought them from said maybe by Jan as they need to adjust to a new environment. And it doesn’t help that the weather here in central Indiana has been YUCKY lately. I want sun! :hissyfit:

  4. shirley says:

:purr: The pink egg is nice, but I am totally a cat lover and your black kitty is just so adorable. He has the look of “put that thing away and pet me”

  5. margie says:

Beautiful eggs! I’m so jealous of all y’all with chickens. As for the critters assisting in the typing, I’ve got 3 cats and 1 little dog. The dog is always attached, & there’s always 1 of the cats attached & if I’m having a bad arthritis flare, they ALL are ministering to me. If I could only get them to “make biscuits” on cue on my back.

  6. Melissa's Cozy Teacup says:

Maybe kitteh thinks you are playing hard to get?

  7. Suzanne, the Farmer's Wife says:

So beautiful!!! I want chickens. I want chickens.

Your egg basket is very colorful!

Don’t you know that a cat getting the attention it wants is more important than work. :purr:

    WTG, Chickens!!!!!!!!

:hungry: :woof: :shimmy:  :snoopy: :elephant: :bananadance:

  10. Nancy in Atlanta says:

The eggs are gorgeous! As for the cat – I have a desktop, not laptop, and Emma jumps on the slight shelf in front of it then down a level to walk on my keyboard when she wants attention. She has typed some very strange things, changed the screen, and even “sent” an email I hadn’t completed! Man, when they want to be the center of things there’s no stopping them!!! :catmeow:

  11. Julie Andrea in Englehart, ON says:

Woo hoo, fresh eggs, and pretty too!

That kitty is adorable, just love those dreamy eyes. A kitty that shows you love, you ARE the chosen one.

Hey, did you know you were mentioned in ‘The Little Egg Farm’ the other day – your recipe for Grandmother’s bread was featured, to go along with her lasagna, mmmmm ..

Off to cook my own cheesey scrambled eggs now, enjoy your Sunday.

  12. Patty says:

Pretty egg and gorgeous kitty. :purr:
My cats have gotten so tired of not being able to climb in my lap with the laptop that they have taken to climbing on my shoulders. I must admit on cold nights when I work online til 3am, I don’t mind the purring scarf.

  13. Brandy says:

OOh, it’s almost too pretty to eat!

  14. Estella says:

    Easter eggs without the dye—awesome!

  15. FringeGirl says:

    They’re just practicing for Easter!!
    And the cat…
We call those “boomerang cats or dogs”, whatever the case may be.

  20. catslady says:

Just beautiful – cats and eggs. With 6 cats there isn’t one seat in my house that one of them hasn’t claimed as their own spot to sit on my lap lol.

  21. Marge says:

Wow, this is the coolest thing I have ever seen in my whole life!! I mean WOW!! How great is it to have such a blessing like that. The lord is truly on your side!

  22. Bedste says:

How many different colored eggs do you have and what kind of chicken laid them? Your blog looks great!

  23. Diane says:

My chickens have been a little slow too………..but no pink ones yet ! I put out a light and they are now beginning to produce.
Heard you are doing another Blue Book Give away………..sure could use one !
    Thanks

  24. LK says:

What kind of chickens do you have? I would love to get some this spring and am still researching the varieties. I am really wanting Araucanas (lays colored eggs, they have no tail and often a tuft on one side of their neck/head), but the real deal is very rare in Canada, much less in my province. It is more common to find the cross: Americana (better known as the Easter Eggers, they have tails and no tufts). I guess that is how it is sometimes. But…I am really curious what would lay the pink egg.

    • Suzanne McMinn says:

LK, we have all kinds of chickens–our Easter Eggers are the Ameraucanas. Probably the pink egg was actually a pink-tinted light brown one from one of the chickens that lay brown eggs but I don’t know which one. I get pink eggs occasionally still.

  25. momma-leigh says:

I just found this posting I know its old, I am curious how old it really took them. I have had a leghorn and a Dominqure (I know I miss spelled that) that have no interest in laying! I got them fully feathered back in MAY!!Help please what am I doing wrong? Do I need to show them somehow??

  26. momma-leigh says:

Thank you very much…I really didnt want to have to show them how to do that, I dont think my neighbors would like the sight! Hopefully they will catch on soon!

  27. Lisabeth Olson says:

Suzanne, you would enjoy the Marans. They lay chocolate eggs. That would really give you color. The Marans eggs are huge also. I have one customer that requests those eggs. The hens are black and the roosters look like Barred Plymouth Rocks. They are wonderful meat birds. Do you butcher your old ones and can the meat? I do that way I always have canned meat on hand to make meat dips. Look in your ball book and make the Zucchini Relish. I started making just a dozen jars a couple of years ago and this year I made 32. There is only 2, my husband and I in the family. We use lots of it. I like it better than pickle relish.
You have a wonderful site here. :duck: :duck: :duck:
