Yesterday, I made a cake. A cake by request. A cake for company. Old-fashioned chocolate cake with creamy white icing and a rocky road frosting filling between the layers. YUM.
Recipes with printables here:
Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake
Creamy White Icing
Rocky Road Frosting
This is a delicious and fun take on classic chocolate cake with a surprise inside in the chocolate, nut, and marshmallow filling, which is AWESOME.
But whatever.
I have COMPANY for the holiday weekend.
And you’ll never guess WHO.
Never.
NEVER!
Never, I tell you, never!
Or maybe you will. Maybe you might wonder why I was in such a rush on this room.
But don’t guess! DON’T! Because I want to TELL YOU!
Ross is home. ROSS!!!!!!!!!!

I’m SOO happy for you Suzanne!! I had a happy surprise too, my baby girl who is away at college surprised me this afternoon and walked ot the back door looking for her Momma. There is nothing sweeter than hearing, “I missed you and wanted to come home.”
Enjoy your sailor while you have him home. Feed him, look at him, feed him, look at him, repeat until he waves goodbye again. Enjoy the time, it is more precious than gold.
Ross, thank you for your service to our country. Yeah, I know, you’re just doing your job (Navy wife here) and you’re having some fun doing it, but thank you anyway. I am proud of the sailors in the US Navy. You are the best!! Happy July 4th!

Suzannne, that’s so wonderful! My youngest is in Haiti doing disaster relief work in the earthquake zone and won’t be home for more than six months, so I would love a short visit. Have a fantastic Fourth of July!

That’s not company, that’s your baby! Well, okay, a b-bb-big baby, but “baby” none-the-less. So glad he’ll be home with you for awhile. Were his first words when he saw his room “Hey, where is all my STUFF?!”?

That may be a “company” cake, but your handsome sailor boy isn’t company, he’ll always be family. And with the other two in Texas, you’ve got him all to yourself. Have a wonderful visit and July 4th weekend.
