A Day Late And A Dollar Short

I’m back! (Finally!) I have been sitting on the perfect porch at the farmhouse–writing and reading and doing galleys for Deep Blue and working on my online class and finishing up the hurricane relief auction work (I’ll post the total raised tomorrow!). What have you been doing????

And here’s the game I promised! Let’s see how you do…… For a PAX mug–

On the way to West Virginia, I was stopped by the cutest State Trooper. I flirted and said please and reminded him that I was a good girl after he checked my driving record and discovered I had a safe one. I batted my eyelashes. I TRIED EVERYTHING. But I still took home a speeding ticket.

How fast was I going? The only hint I’m giving is that I was on a state highway at the time, not an interstate.

I’ll send a PAX mug to one winner drawn from either among those closest to the correct number or who guess the correct number.

  1. Cheryl S. says:

    Umm . . . I don’t know. 50?

  2. TeresaH says:

Not knowing what the speed limits are on state highways there, I’m going to guess 72 mph. I can’t believe batting your eyelashes didn’t work! Maybe the sun was in his eyes and he didn’t see you! :rotfl:

  3. Leanna says:

I’ll say 65. sorry about the ticket. No fun.

  4. Melissa says:

Welcome back, Suz. Hope you enjoyed your trip. I’d say you were going 45.

  5. kacey says:

next road trip wear a mini skirt and tight little tank top if you’re going to speed  …67

  6. MartyK says:

I’ll guess 70 or so. I usually settle in at about 5 over the limit. What have I been doing? Wrote 12 pages last night πŸ™‚ Enjoy your stay!

  7. Shelly says:

    I’m going to guess 62 on a “50 mph” highway. πŸ˜€

  8. StDebb says:

We got a speeding ticket in West Virginia this summer too! It’s a vast conspiracy, obviously!

So I’ll guess 63 mph, since that’s how fast we were going!

  9. Estella says:

Welcome back! Not knowing the speed limit back east, I’ll guess 64 mph.

  10. Eve says:

Do we know you? The name sounds familiar.

What have I been doing? Kate Hardy has me writing – the slave driver:whip:

Okay, if 63 is speeding then I’ll say 70.

  11. Mary says:

Well it’s about time you got back. We missed you. How fast were you going? Too fast.

  12. Margery Scott says:

No fair. I have no idea what the speed limits are in the US. But I’ll guess 61.

  13. Mik says:

I’m gonna guess if it’s a state highway, the speed limit is 70 and you were going 85.

I finished my novella last week and submitted it!

  14. Rene says:

I’m going to say you were going 77 but because you batted your eyelashes he cited you for 70.

  15. Robyn says:

I will say you were going 60 m.p.h.

  16. ValMarie says:

I’m gonna say 83 MPH. Based on NY state highways being 65mph in certain spots and knowng there’s no way you could escape a ticket up here if you got clocked at 15+mph over the limit and got stopped.

  17. Emma S says:

Well since West Virgina roads are very wind-ey I’m going to guess low and say 52.

Oh, and sorry about the ticket.

  18. Marcy says:

    Hmm…I’ll guess 66. 😐

  19. Amy K. says:

    I’ll guess 70.

    And welcome back!

Sorry about the ticket, Suz.

  21. Mary Stella says:

While you wrote, read and flirted with troopers, I took a boat handling course and lived to blog about it. πŸ™‚

State highway speeding ticket? I’ll say 72 mph.

  22. Jennifer says:

Among other things I read “Weekend Engagement” while you were gone. πŸ˜€ It was excellent!

  23. Maureen says:

I’ll guess 68. Sorry about the ticket.

  24. Angie says:

Welcome back! Sorry about the ticket, that sux.

The speed limit on our state highways is 55 and I usually cruise along at 65 so my guess is 66 mph.

  25. Christy says:

    I’m going to guess 74.
I wanted to guess 69, but that would just be soooo wrong to give a ticket to a good girl doing 69.:rotfl:

  26. Angie says:

Bwaaahahahahahaha!!! You owe me a new keyboard…I’ll never get the mocha frapp outta this one!

  27. Carol says:

    I’ll guess 87.

  28. Gina says:

Hmm … 74? Been busy writing and working with my new writing gig. Things are definitely hectic right now. Good to see you back!

  29. Beth Ciotta says:

Welcome back, Suzanne! Hope you had a productive trip! :bananadance:

  31. Jeanette Jackson says:

my guess is 76…sorry about the ticket:sad:

  32. Ashley says:

State highways are notoriously slower than interstates. I’ll say 45. Woohoo! :rotfl:

  33. ruby55 says:

What a question to ask of those of us who live in Canada and don’t think in miles or U.S. speed limits. Welcome back and I’m sorry about the ticket. That’s lousy.

Let’s say you were going 66 mph.

  34. Juanita Stender says:

What a way to ruin a trip with a ticket! I guess you forgot wear your “Daisy Dukes” so you could get out of the car and bend over real far to slowly pick up something that you dropped while batting those eyelashes! 😈 I will guess 55 MPH.

  35. Toni Anderson says:

My DH got a parking ticket yesterday and talked his way out of it–woman on the desk.

At least he was cute

  36. Toni Anderson says:

I meant the police officer–not my DH!!

  37. Alyssa says:

    I’m going to guess 81.

    Welcome back!

  38. Danica says:

Your husband should have let you leave the house with no pants on this morning….
