About that surprise coming to the farm….

The surprise is not….

….that Clover is pregnant. I don’t know yet if she’s pregnant. I can’t tell and she’s not talking. (I think that she’s not, unfortunately. I see no signs to indicate that she is.)

The surprise is not….

….that Pepsi is coming. (You already know that.) I’m fetching Pepsi tomorrow, by the way!

The surprise is not….

….that I’m collecting more ducklings and chicks. (You already know that.)

The surprise is not….

….a mate for Coco.

I’ll even tell you that the surprise is not….

….a girl fainting goat to pair up with Pepsi. By the way, I loved the suggestion in the comments recently to name a girl Sprite to go with Pepsi. I’m planning on it! As soon as I find Sprite…. I don’t know where she is yet. (Sprite? Sprite! Where are you, Sprite?)

I’ll also tell you that the surprise already has a name….

….and it’s Pocahontas.

Pocahontas is in Ohio right now. She’ll be ready for us in June. I can hardly wait! And that’s all I’m gonna tell you.

But, I do have a picture, taken on her home farm in Ohio on Easter Sunday.

Are you ready?

Wanna see the picture?

Are you sure?

Here it is!
P.S. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!

  1. Debbie in Memphis says:

Happy Mother’s Day!! You’re the first person to tell me Happy Mother’s Day. I’m not sure my crew will remember…we’ll see if the first time they say anything is when they hear me tell my mom Happy Mother’s Day 😉

  2. Samantha Sullivan says:

You are such a wicked tease!!!

    Happy Mothers Day!

    Samantha in So Cal

  3. Patty says:

Happy Mothers Day to you too Suzanne! I can’t wait to find out what the surprise is!!

  4. shirley says:

Oh, you are SO mean. 😆
Happy Mother’s Day to you, Suzanne.

  5. Darlene says:

    Happy Mothers Day!

    I agree with Shirley 🙂

  6. Teresa says:

I bet that you are getting an Emu!
Happy Mother’s Day. Have a great day! :happyflower:

  7. Sheryl - Runningtrails says:

Ok, this isn’t funny. I’m going to have to find out what it is now.

    Happy Mother’s Day to Everyone!!

  8. connie says:

    Llama, Llama, Llama???

    hugs from PA

  9. CindyP says:

Happy Mother’s Day! Hopefully no rain for you today, so it can be enjoyed in the beautiful green outside :clover:

You really do like to tease us……Well, you didn’t say is wasn’t a miniature donkey!! or a llama!! hmmm……..

  10. Heidi says:

can I guess??? I think I know what it might be!!!!

  11. monica says:

What part of Ohio? I think it may be a llama–they are very protective of other animals from predators. Or a horse for Princess–a white one.
I thought surely that we would get a confirmation of what new critter you were getting–OUR Mother’s Day present! This is almost as bad as waiting to find out the sex!
We have been good and cleaned our plates . . .

  12. MissyinWV says:

:happyflower: Happy Mothers Day! I can’t wait to find out about your new surprise! :snoopy:

  13. Dawn says:

    Happy Mother’s Day everyone! :purpleflower:

    Is the surprise a donkey?

  14. Stacy says:

Happy Mothers day! Perhaps an alpaca, for more wool?

  15. Bonny says:

I just hate surprises! Happy Mother’s Day to you, enjoy the day.

  16. Diane says:

Happy Mothers day. It must be something really wonderful. Llama like the other people said. A horse? You did not leave out cow. But I do not think Princess would be sitting there like that petting a cow. Mabe a jersery cow. Those are very nice. If I would have a cow it would be a jersery cow. In fact a few would fit in nicely at your place. But then you need to be building a barn or another building? You have not said anything about building new buildings? Guess we will have to wait awhile yet.

  17. Mim says:

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone….If I were to travel to Ohio, I would be getting a llama, especially based on the fence in the picture. Suzanne: was at the Walton Thriftway yesterday and they still have alot of chicks….

  18. BuckeyeGirl says:

Hooray for Niners!! He looks much happier now that he has a tiny bit more personal control over his food.

As far as the surprise addition, I’m looking forward to the “Big Reveal” I’ve never had a problem waiting for Christmas morning to open presents, so I’ll just savor the curiosity factor for now.

  19. Ulli says:

    Happy Mother’s Day to all!
Ohio is my home state so I’m very curious to know where in Ohio Pocahontas is coming from. Cute names–Pepsi and Sprite. Did you know Mark Levin, the radio talk show host, had a dog named Sprite and named the next one Pepsi? He wrote a very touching book about them, and the end of Sprite’s life called Rescuing Sprite (both were rescues). Seems those names just go together!

  20. Lynda Dunham-Watkins says:

Happy Mother’s Day to you all!! I think it’s a baby pig! With all this rain, my garden looks like a pig pen. Maybe, I should get one!

  21. Heidi533 says:

Do I get a prize if I was right when I was the first person to guess a donkey? :o)

  22. Fencepost says:

    Happy Mother’s Day, Suzannne!
I’m just gonna wait for the surprise. Patience is a virtue, but I’ll warn you, mine is really small. tee hee

  23. iowacowgirl says:

a very happy mother’s day to you Suzanne

  24. Val says:

Happy Mother’s Day!! One of my donkeys just brayed to me, wishing me a Happy Mother’s Day, when he heard me feeding the barn kitties. Donkeys and llamas are used here in MN to guard sheep and goats. But I’m thinking maybe a flashy paint mare pony or mini horse, thus the name Pocahontas.
    Have a wonderful day everyone!
    Val :happyflower:

  25. Remudamom says:

You are bad. I’m still betting it’s something that can pull a cart.

  26. Wheezay says:

    Happy Mother’s Day !! :snoopy:
My guess is for a calf. :cowsleep:

  27. Nancy in Atlanta says:

You are rotten! But Happy Mother’s Day, anyway. I’ll be hearing from my daughter, probably both sisters, but I’m still fighting pneumonia (a week now) and don’t feel like doing anything or even talking. Nine looks like he’s in heaven now that he has a real bottle and nipple!

OK – I see Lynda D-W already beat me to my guess of a pig!!! At least you were kind enough to answer our other guesses. I’m sorry if Clover really isn’t in a kid way; she probably just wants another “vacation”!!! :cowsleep: :chicken: :sheep:

  28. The Retired One says:

    Such a TEASE!!!!
We will be waiting to hear what (or who) it is.

  29. Claudia W. says:

Aw…COMON! That’s not fair! I am just dieing to find out what Pocahontas is. I know…a minature horse…that’s it. a cute little pint size version of a horse. That is what you need, a horse.
    Happy Mother’s Day!

  30. robin says:

    Happy Mother’s Day! what ever she (i assume she) is – she is short;
that lady is kneeling down and talking very low to the ground…not
    very far up that fence…
    I can wait…i like secrets!

  31. Taiya says:

I love Pepsi! What a cutie!

  32. jaq says:

LOL! You’re so evil!! I have the same guess as others–a donkey? or one of those miniture ponies (shetland?).

    Happy Mothers’ Day, everyone!! :happyflower:

  33. Claudia says:

    I’m guessing a donkey too!

  34. Leah says:

Happy Mother’s Day! P.S. Could you please remove those post-it-notes?! Can you belive I was trying to see if I could see thru them?Ha,ha!

  35. Ulrike says:

Hmm. I’m seeing nothing that disproves my first guess of a miniature cow.

  36. Sandra Leigh says:

It’s interesting to see that other people are guessing ‘llama’. When I saw the fencing, the first thing I thought of was an alpaca – so I’ll go with that.

  37. Treasure says:

I second the Donkey guess only a small one.

  38. Susan says:

    Happy Mother’s Day! :happyflower:

  39. jean says:

    Happy Mother’s Day.

  40. Christine says:

It’s got to be a cow. One of those miniature ones. :moo:

  41. Stellina says:

I’ll bet it is an alpaca!!
    ….Stellina in Italy

  42. Taryn says:

It’s too small to be even a baby horse or a donkey, unless it was a miniature, and you said the Ornery Angel was giving you piglets, so you wouldn’t need to go to Ohio for that. I have never seen a baby llama or alpaca, maybe that is small enough to be your secret…

Have your fun teasing us on Mothers’ Day!

  43. Ms E says:

It’s a blonde Scottish Highlander calf!!!!! But Suzanne, Pocohantas is NOT a very Scottish name and Pocohantas was a brunette?!

  44. catslady says:

Tis a puzzlement lol. Happy Mother’s Day!

  45. Donna Mc says:

Whatever ‘It’ is, I think it’s a miniature….donkey or pony.

    Happy Mama’s Day!

  46. G-Mama says:

Happy Mother’s Day. I don’t know if anyone else has guessed this, but I think that Pocahantas is a pig. I believe that you mentioned previously that you would like to raise your own bacon, so what would be better than getting a mama pig so that you could raise a litter of hams and pork chops. I grew up on the farm. We always had a couple of pigs every year. We named them and took care of them, but we knew that they would be going to the locker plant in the fall and provide delicious meals throughout the winter. Congratulations on taking another step to make your farm more self sufficient. If you can get more milk from your goats, you will not need a cow, although a cow could provide milk to feed you and your family as well as the pig, the cats, the chickens and even the giant puppy. Can’t wait to hear about your trip to get Pepsi.

  47. Michelle says:

Happy Mothers Day from Tennessee! I have to place my bet on a cute little shetland pony. I think one would fit in perfectly with all of your other lovely animals 🙂 I say the more the better!

    Michelle in Tennessee

  48. Gini says:

  49. sunnid755 says:

:hissyfit: oh no, I hope I can sleep tonite, the mystery of it all, and darn those, can’t see thru them post-its. It could be ANYTHING….a donkey, an alpaca, a pig, oh my!!!! Thanks for sharing.

  50. Nita in South Carolina says:

You are a mean lady! Maybe Clover is right about you . . .

    Happy Mother’s Day!

  51. ML says:

A miniature donkey or horse or pony. Whatever it is I think it must be small since the lady in the pic is kneeling. How are they going to ship it your farm?

  52. Sheila Z says:

    Angora goat
    Miniature donkey
    not a pig?
    hmmmm, what is it!
    calf? Highland or Dexter
camel? I know someone that has one in her front yard
    the suspense is too much
when pigs fly AKA swine flu

  53. Teri says:

Not sure why I think this, but am quessing your new resident might be a buffalo?!

  54. Kimberly says:

    Minature horse??? Or a Llama!

  55. stefinity says:

    I think it’s a pony!!!

  56. KCRanch says:

So NOT fair!! Spill it already. 🙂

  57. Debbie in PA says:

A belated happy Mother’s day to you!

I am guessing that Pochahontas is either a donkey or a miniaure horse.

  58. Alexandra says:

I also bet on a pig; or a pony (we have tiny ponies here in Argentiina called Fallabella ponies), or a llama; or a coatimundi; or heaven knows what. Please put us out of our misery and show us.
    :snoopy: :woof: :cowsleep: :sheepjump: :sheep:

  59. Lynn says:

I know what the surpise is. Mwahhh hahaaaaaaa

  60. Jodie says:

It’s not a dog, cat, chicken, goat, duck, Great Pyr., fainting goat or sheep probably. That leaves the rest of the animal kingdom, since it’s not 52 moving in. :hissyfit:
I vote for Pochahontas the Pig.
