Live From The Holler

The 100-year-old family farmhouse. Walton, West Virginia.

The perfect porch for hours of doing nothing.

More old family photographs than you can shake a stick at.

Cool antiques.

Creepy cellar full of canned fruits and vegetables from the big garden out back.

A rooster that thinks dawn is 4:30 am.

Plans for the day read like an old-fashioned cookbook. First, kill a chicken…….

  19. Carol Burnside says:

Oh my gosh those pics bring back memories of helping my Granny feed the baby chicks while trying to stay out of reach of the rooster, grabbing eggs from under the hens before they could peck, and canning produce from her HUGE garden. She kept herself and our family of 6 in vegies, fruit, jams & jellies year round.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
