More Beast buzz! Lindsay at Lindsay Randall’s blog says: “What a great, rollercoaster ride of emotion, action and all-out, hit-me-in-the-heart-and-gut romance! Okay, next time you’re in the doctor’s office and they put you in that little room where you wait and wait and wait….. Here’s one option for handling it. Yesterday, I took my boys to the eye doctor. My fourteen-year-old got through rather quickly but I thought my twelve-year-old was never going to come out, so when he did, I was pleased, jumped right up, let’s go. I said (as we’re walking to the reception desk for the bill), “So what did the doctor say?” My son said, “Oh, I never saw him.” Halt. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU NEVER SAW HIM?” He gave me a TOTALLY SERIOUS LOOK. You know, like he wasn’t insane or ANYTHING, and said, “He never came in. I got bored. So I left.” I grabbed his skinny little arm, walked him back, pushed him at the hallway back into the tiny little boring waiting rooms, and told him to STAY THERE UNTIL THE DOCTOR CAME. Turned around and there were several people in the waiting room cracking up. You know, obviously because they don’t live with a twelve-year-old.
Maureen says:
Hey, he’s got places to go and things to do. When my daughter went to get her physical from the school physicians for her working papers she went back and came out in a few minutes and the doctor HAD seen her.

LOL…I can’t blame him. Not sure why doctors think their time is more important than MY time. It’s not by the way. :fryingpan:
Congrats on the Maggie final!! That’s cool!

Congrats on the Maggie! More good things to come I’m sure!:bananadance:
I would’ve left too if I was him. I wait 30 minutes once I am in the room, if the doc hasn’t seen me by then, they ain’t gonna see me. Sorry but if they couldn’t see me at that time, they should’ve made my appointment for later! I have things to do! And, if I had the time and:fryingpan: could just sit around, I wouldn’t pick the doctor’s office to do it in!

lol Sounds like something I’d wish to do. My dr. office is cracking down since one of the reasons it gets that way is people coming in for one thing and then mentioning a bunch of other things during the visit that take up time. So now they say they will only cover things you mention when you make the appt. Hope it works. DH saw the doctor for 5 min. yesterday but the entire visit took him over 45 minutes.

Your son’s got the right instincts! I was at the doctor’s yesterday after a nice, but stressful weekend up at my sister’s where we had a baby-shower with family (the stressful part.(:fryingpan:)
An older, arthritic woman came in after me. We talked a bit. My appointment was 2:15. At 3:00 she went to the receptionist and said that if she could just have her bp taken, that was all she needed and she’d leave. The recep. said it would soon be her turn. I finally got in and the locum went through all my info, asked why I was there (my monthly checkup, took my bp at my request, asked if I needed any new meds, :blahblah: It was the longest visit I’d had in years.
I finally got out. My sister-in-law was waiting (15-20 min) to give me a ride.:loser:

I’ve thought about getting up and leaving the doctor’s office, too. You rush and rush to get to the doctor, and then you sit and wait forever. It’s ridiculous.

Congrats Suzanne. Yes doctors have a very high opinion of their time because they charge so much but hey what am I? My time is worth alot also because I work for myself and run my own business. If I don’t work – I don’t get paid. They make me so mad. One thing that helps is that I always carry a book with me to read while I am waiting anywhere. It sure helps to make the wait a bit more pleasant!

Suzanne says:
A book helps, doesn’t it? Today I took my boys to the dentist. (It’s summer, so I’m trying to get as many doctor appts in as possible while they’re out of school.) I brought TWO books because I was afraid we’d be there so long that I’d finish the first one. And I did. I finished Kiss Me While I Sleep by Linda Howard (really good) then started Ten Big Ones by Janet Evanovich.

Congrats on the great reviews! As for your 12-yr. son story, you gotta give it to them, life is anything but boring when they are around. Have they caught the Harry Potter fever yet? *lol*

I always have a book along for Dr’s appts, but sometimes it’s more difficult staying awake in those little rooms. LOL I wonder if that’s why they keep them so chilly?

Boy, do I sympathize with your 12-yr-old. Those waits for the doctor can seem to take forever and then, if like out doctor, he spends about 4 1/2 minutes with you. And, to make matters worse in our case, our doctor closed his office that was fairly near to our house and is now located miles from us. Visiting the doctor has become an all day trip for that 4 1/2 minute visit.
