  14. Darla Dixon says:

I really like it, I think it will stand out on the shelves.

I worked for Waldenbooks 11 years. Just looking at a Silhouette romance, I can actually remember what the paper and the ink would smell like when I opened up a shipping box!

  15. April says:

I like how they are doing heads imposed on backgrounds…..it’s similar to The Beast Within cover, but the face is closer,..a little more eerie.

I like it. The cover would def. grab my attention at the store.

  16. Joely says:

Very, very cool! Is that Machu Picchu at the bottom? I seriously can’t wait for this book!!

  17. Carol Burnside says:

    Intriguing. Very other-worldly.

  18. Amy K. says:

I like it! It’s very different and yet it’s similar to BEAST so that should be a good thing. πŸ™‚

  19. Rene says:

OOOH, very cool cover, I like it a lot.

  20. Lynn Daniels says:

Gorgeous! It would definitely catch my eye on the shelf.

Like Katie, I’m wondering what YOU think of it.

  21. Kelly says:

    Truthfully? I think it’s AWESOME! πŸ˜€

  22. Suzanne says:

Okay, here’s what I think. I think the “Seeing is believing…” tag is really cool and really fits the book. There are some really weird paranormal events in this book. It’s weirder than The Beast Within, and “Seeing is believing” is definitely true in this book. I don’t know what that snake-like stuff is at the top. There aren’t any snakes in the book–but there are some ancient stones with all kinds of patterns and images, so that could be representative of those–in fact, I’m pretty sure that’s what they took that from because I emailed them some photos of the type of engraved stones that were in the book. That does look some kind of ruins like Macchu Picchu at the bottom. There are some ruins in the book at the top of a mountain but I didn’t describe them quite like that, but that’s okay. There’s an island and a jungle and a cave in the book, but I’m not really sure what all the things are in the artwork because I can’t quite see it well enough here. I’ll have to wait until I actually have the cover in my hands to see it better. But overall, the cover images fit the story, and that doesn’t always happen, so I’m thrilled about that!

In the midst of some very weird events, the story is also very romantic, though, and so what scares me about the cover is that it looks so sci-fi/fantasy that I wonder if romance readers will be attracted to it?? It doesn’t look like any SIM cover I’ve ever seen. But I love that it’s so different and cool and eye-catching. I think it will stand out, and standing out is good. I think. I hope!

Overall, I’m just very excited that they’re giving the PAX books such mainstreamy, cool covers!! I’m happy with the cover–in fact, I’m excited about the cover–but I’m a little scared of it at the same time. But the PAX books themselves are risky stories, so hey, why not risky covers? I’m game!

  23. Toni Anderson says:

I love it–but the guy’s nose and chin are a bit pointy–is that an elf thing?

  24. Alyssa says:

I LOVE this cover! It’s awesome.

  25. ValMarie says:

It’s a gorgeous cover. I’d pick it up just to see what kind of story matched with a cover like that. πŸ™‚

And completely off-topic, did you ever get the cat to the vet yesterday?

  26. Eve says:

Paranormal type romances are a big thing at my bookstore – really big sellers, so I don’t think there will be any problem with the sci/fi look. And the catch phrase “Seeing is believing …” will really catch the eyes of aforementioned readers.

My attempt at anarchy at Jill’s blog is failing. :whip:

  27. Suzanne says:

    He’s not an elf!!!

  28. Suzanne says:

Buttercuppy got to the vet and had some blood drawn. He was Not Pleased.

  29. Trace says:

    Ohmygod!! I FRIGGIN’LOVE IT!!:bananadance:

  30. Emma S says:

    I like it!

I like how it goes with The Beast Within cover (but they’re not exactly the same).

  31. Sonja (from HCRW) says:

Very PAX-y… brooding and mysterious. πŸ™‚ Highly appropriate.

  32. Court says:

I think of brooding and mysterious when I look at it.

  33. Tori says:

The more I look at it, the more I like it, though like I said yesterday I had the hero pictured much differently in my mind’s eye. πŸ™‚

Just to brag Nyah, nyah! πŸ˜› I’ve read a large portion of this because Suzanne’s one of my writing buddies. It’s a GREAT book!!!

  34. Mary Stella says:

    Very intense and intriguing, Suzanne!

  35. Toni Anderson says:

Sorry Suzanne :fryingpan: No–he looks nothing like an elf!!!

  36. Lis says:

    Awesome cover!!:bananadance:

  37. Sandy Jones says:

    Wow! it! Great job!

  38. Suzanne says:

LOL, Toni, don’t feel bad! My editor told me she thought he looked like a leprechaun!!!!

  39. Sasha says:

    I think it’s Fabulous!!!

  40. Danica says:

Um, you have no emoticon for sitting in a big pile of drool… that is what I think of your cover. πŸ™‚

  41. Jordan says:

Very cool and mysterious. I like it! Congrats!!!

  42. Lindsay says:

How exciting…and I love it!! Congrats. Am looking forward to reading it.

  43. ruby55 says:

It’s a very impressive cover though I’m also a little puzzled by the “barbershop” pole with the snake wound around it. Is there anything medical in the book? But I guess that staff would be vertical not horizontal. It is very different from any other SIM cover I’ve seen–there were very distinctive covers but in other ways before.

I also think that it’s very eye-catching and mysterious. Hope it will bring you new readers.:thumbsup:

  44. Robyn says:

Guess what! I do not know what I think
of the cover, honestly. So I won’t say anything.

  45. Melissa says:

    I have three words…fab-u-lous!!

    That cover is awesome!!

  46. Melissa says:

I had to come back and look at this cover again. If I didn’t know you, Suz, I’d buy this book for the cover alone!

  47. Mai says:

It’s different and you’re right, definately not a “SIM cover”, but I like it. It’s definately intense and very cool. Good luck with it!!

  48. Teresa says:

My first thought is wow, it grabs your attention! Which is good.

  49. Charlene says:

    Gorgeous cover, Suzanne!
