Reason #4,612 Why Cats Hate Children

“He loves to sit on my lap!”

Last month, the vet suggested Buttercup might be diabetic. I brought Buttercup in for follow-up testing that proved that Buttercup was NOT diabetic, he simply became so stressed during vet visits that it threw his glucose off the charts.

This month, the vet wanted to test him for liver issues due to elevated levels in previous standard tests.

This week, tests showed there is nothing wrong with Buttercup’s liver.

I have now spent approximately $3,828,995 to find out that BUTTERCUP IS PERFECTLY HEALTHY. Not that I resent follow-up tests. I would do anything for my Butterboo. In fact, I’m absolutely positive that the vet has this noted in Buttercup’s file. “Client is easily persuaded to do anything for her cat. The cat appears to hold a high emotional sway over the Client. Remember to suggest any and all obscure tests and treatments to the Client. Consider asking Client for her credit card. Don’t return the card. Inform the Client her cat’s health depends on my travelling to Acapulco with her credit card.”

He looks SO healthy and So Very Happy being a lap kitty! Lucky Buttercup! Glad he’s doing Just Fine.

  2. Michelle says:

LOL! I think fish are cheaper.

  3. MartyK says:

Glad BC is okay ๐Ÿ™‚ Now I totally believe stress can do really weird things to kitties…

  4. Leanna says:

LOL! Suzanne, the same notation is in each of my 5 pets files at our vet.

And my daughter says the same thing, “But my kitty loves it when I…chase, hold, torture her!”

  5. Peggy says:

There really ought to be pet health coverage!

  6. Peggie says:

    And worth every penny:fryingpan:

  7. Eve says:

Must have the same vet as I do. He’s really beautiful – in fact, he’s about the same coloring as my Seamas (That’s Texan for Bubba the red-necked kitty).

  8. Amy K. says:

Glad Buttercup’s just fine! And I might have to argue with Michelle…fish replacement costs are pretty darn high, at least in our house.

  9. Lynn Daniels says:

Glad Buttercup is okay! No cats in our house, but my kids used to try to ride the dog. He didn’t like it too much.

  10. Robyn says:

    Yeah Buttercup-here’s to good health.
I totally understand the cost of pets but
we, also, wouldn’t have it any other way.
We, like you, love our pet- Samson, the
male Apricot toy poodle who ways 6 lbs.
    and does many neat tricks.

  11. Robyn says:

man on man, where is my brain this a.m.-
    ways should be weighs. Yuck!!!:yuck:

  12. Trish says:

What a pretty kitty. I’m afraid if I was to get a pet now, I’d be the same way with taking them to the vet. I need myself a big, hearty dog.

  13. Melissa says:

:rotfl: That picture of Butterboo is great!

Don’t feel like the lone ranger, Suz. My file says the same. ๐Ÿ˜†

  14. kacey says:

glad Buttercup is all okay. Even if it took a million dollars in tests to find that out

  15. Melissa Marsh says:

Suzanne, I’m LMAO!!!! You are so darn funny! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
My vet told me to think about getting pet insurance…sheesh! I can barely afford my OWN medical bills.

  16. Kelly says:

LOL, Suzanne! Um, I just want to say…I think Buttercup is healthy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  17. ValMarie says:

My aunt has health insurance for her dog. Insurance coverage and health benefits (Where you get a discounted rate for services) is rapidly becoming a major thing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Glad to hear that Buttercup is doing well!

  18. Angie T says:

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! (note the slightly hysterical tone here!)
Stray (tom) cat shows up at house.
Kids hug him and stroke him and pat him and pet him and they will call him Mr. Kitty.
Mr Kitty decides he needs a date and goes out on the town.
No Mr. Kitty for 2 to 3 weeks.
Just as I am thinking we have dodged the bullet, Mr. Kitty comes home.
Minus one eye, ear hanging loose and lots of scratches and bald spots.
    Kids cry.
Mom takes Mr. Kitty to the vet. Mr. Kitty comes home one week later.
Minus his “traveling incentive”, shall we say? (i.e., he was neutered). Like I told the kids, at least when he “grooms” himself from the right, he’ll never realize they are gone.
Mr. Kitty has just become the $250 cat. That I never wanted to begin with. At least he had the decency to remain alive for the next 10 years, so I did recoup my investment.
    God rest his furry soul.
Really, I did love him. He was a sweet cat….just not too bright.

  19. Joely says:

I’m so glad your Butterboo is fine! We can’t have cats–the middle monster is allergic.

  20. Toni Anderson says:

Why do you take a healthy cat to the vet:shock:???

I love vets, but they are in business. You’re totally right about him doing unnecessary tests!! Take control–the only thing wrong with Buttercup is being stressed from visiting the man with the cold probes ๐Ÿ˜‰

  21. Toni Anderson says:

But then there is the guilt factor…

  22. ruby55 says:

I love animals–when they don’t jump up on me or try to slobber me to death or piddle on my foot. Actually that’s not true. Our dog Ivanhoe was very hyper but beautiful and loyal–so what’s a footbath or two. I cried buckets when I heard that he had to be put down and I didn’t have a chance to say goodbye. (I was 3,000+ miles away.)

The dog upstairs is lonely for her other people. Only Mom is home and Nellie won’t eat, go outside or do all the things she normally does. One daughter is visiting the oldest daughter in Saskatoon where–can you believe it–it’s about 50F. Dad and the youngest girl are in Poland for a visit. Poor Nellie. She’s lonesome.

I’m glad Butterboo is all right. We do seem to get ripped off right and left, don’t we? High vet costs is one reason I have no pet–a messy apt. is the other.

  23. Cynthia says:

Glad to hear Buttercup is healthy!

  24. Jordan says:

Sounds like some doctors I’ve encountered.

  25. Tori says:

I’m glad Buttercup is okay! But I have a sneaking suspicion you may be right about the notation in his file. :rotfl:

  26. Teresa says:

LOL! Cats are so much fun.

  27. Eve says:

High costs are one of the reasons I have cats and not children. Just think how much that would have cost for a human.

  28. Danica says:

    I shoulda been a vet…

  29. Gina says:

Oh yes! He just loves sitting on laps. You can just tell! :rotfl:

  30. Sandy Jones says:

Sweet, sweet kitty! Glad to know he is doing well. Give him a rub for me.

  31. Toni Lea Andrews says:

My sister’s cat, Rocky, just got a pin out of his leg due to an incident when he tried to catch a car and drag it home by the bumper (the reason his name is Rocky is because his first toy was a rock. He is an exceedingly macho cat!).

One of my cats is neurotic. This is apparently genetic, as he is one of twins and his brother is totally laid back. My vet actually suggested a PET PSYCHIATRIST. Can you imagine what that would cost????

I’ve decided on cuddle therapy instead.

    Toni:heart:

  32. Mary says:

Do you have health insurance for Buttercup? Give him a kiss for me.

  33. Melissa says:

LOL, Suzanne! If it’s any consolation, we paid for our vet’s trip to Europe a couple of years ago. And you should have seen my hubby’s expression when she said we needed a cat behaviorist to come visit the house. Gotta love our furbabies no matter how much they cost us!

  34. mADDIE says:

I love my two furry-girls too. my husband just suggested that my one, Gracie, has a lip ulcer because I am not cooking, yes COOKING her high quality food. Isn’t IAMS and SCIENCE diet, two flavors, enough????I am NOT going to pull out pots and pans for these girls!

Also–WHERE do you find your great movie titles? I stole your movie list and put 10 more on my Blockbuster QUE. “CATFISH WITH BLACKBEAN SAUCE!?” Thanks!
    MADDIE

  35. Suzanne says:

Hi, Maddie! I think I got Catfish in Black Bean Sauce from People Magazine. They review kind of obscure movies sometimes and if they sound good, I’ll put them in my queue for when they come out. I have so many movies in my Netflix queue, it’s ridiculous. I’m constantly rearranging them because my husband and boys want action flicks and I don’t have that much time to watch my movies so I’m always pushing my own picks back to put action flicks on top.
    :hissyfit:

  36. Darla Dixon says:

LOL…Butterboo stopped by my house yesterday, muttering about a painted dog.
I couldn’t quite understand what was said, because he had your credit card in his mouth. He wanted to use my computer to go shopping online at Kats-R-Us. I told him no, he didn’t have permission to use the card and to go home. He begged, using those limpid eyes of his, saying he really really needed those catnip balls for his habit. So if you wondered why your credit card had CAT SPIT all over it, that is the explanation.

  37. Mechele Armstrong says:

LOL Suzanne. Glad the kitty is A-ok. And yes, I have that same note in my file on my pooch.
