Technical Difficulties

I never miss a day, so I hate to! My laptop is not working. If I have to buy another one, just shoot me. Writing this from another computer–I have no pictures, nothing, all my files are on my laptop. Wish me luck getting it working again.

Until then–

Oh, bother! What a mess. I do hope it is resolved soonest. Maybe you could threaten that laptop with your rooster-broom?

  2. Funraiser says:

Good Luck! I’ve been there and life kinda stops until it’s a 100% again. Of course I would recommend a Mac. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. CindyP says:

I really hate technical difficulties, too! This technology is so helpful and so hateful all in the same breath…….hope things can be recovered and doesn’t create that headache, you know the one!

  4. Nannette Saunders says:

None of us are immune to the technological issues that happen from time to time. I have three computers of which 2 are lap tops. Keeping my pictures on flickr.com helps me have access to them all the time and allows me to share on my site anytime. Do you have a flickr.com account?

  5. shirley says:

    Praying for a laptop resurrection.

  6. Chris says:

Carbonite.com is my back up friend, flickr.com pro is $25 per year.

  7. Heidi says:

The Chicken did it in the yard with the broom stick!!! LOL like in the game clue… get it… no… *rats* cant wait till your back!!!

  8. Diane says:

Bummer. Hope you are not gone for long. ๐Ÿ™ I hate it when the computer breaks. Just kind of upsets the whole day or week. Depending on how long it takes to get the darn thing fixed.

  9. Heidi says:

Eeek! So sorry Suzanne. That really bites. I hope you get it figured out.

  10. anne says:

Very frustrating to say the least!!
Hope you can resolve the problem quickly!!

  13. Lucy says:

Let me know how you fix it because I worry about that every single day.

  14. mmHoney says:

    THANKS FOR KEEPING US INFORMED.
    MISS YOU……

  15. Myrna Mackenzie says:

I hope this doesn’t post twice (my Internet connection dropped in the middle of posting it, so I’m trying again).

Suzanne, you have my sympathy. Nothing messes with my day like a computer meltdown.

When you get up and running, consider getting an external hard drive. They’ve become a lot cheaper, smaller and if you back up your photos and files on it every day (which only takes seconds), you can plug that puppy into any computer and instantly have your stuff at your fingertips.

Best wishes on getting up and running again.

  16. The Jillybean says:

Must be the season…my sister is having to put hers in LTICU (Laptop Intensive Care Unit)

  17. The Retired One says:

I feel your pain! I just dread it when the computer gives me an inkling of trouble…so you must be in a panic!!!!
hang in there, we will be patient until you return!

  18. MissyinWV says:

Good luch getting it all working again!! Missed reading you today! :purpleflower:

  19. BuckeyeGirl says:

Oh My! Been there done that too!

I echo Myrna who suggested an external hard drive. Many come with ‘back up’ software, but even if you just copy your most important files including pictures etc, if not the whole ‘back up’ procedure, you will have that much in two places. I keep mine unplugged from my main computer most of the time, so it’s not running constatantly and not vulnerable to viruses and snoopers etc. I just plug it in when I want to copy things. Even if you only do it once a week, it means you’d only lose a weeks worth of pictures if your laptop totally fried.

Always good to keep duplicate sets of all that stuff, one on laptop, one on seperate drive.

Good luck Suzanne and stay strong! …I would check on whether or not the mean rooster was pecking around the keyboard too though.

:hissyfit: I’ll miss my daily “Chickens” fix! What a bummer. Good luck with the computer. And hurry back!

  21. Bev says:

    Susan,

If you need assitance call 304-641-5618. This is my husband Ken. He has a small computer repair business. He can often walk people through the problem on the phone.

  22. gwen says:

already miss your stories, hope you will be back soon, computers, can’t live without them anymore………

    :shimmy: ๐Ÿ˜• :happyfeet:

  23. Suzanne, the Farmer's Wife says:

Good luck. Honestly Suzanne, if you need to buy a new one, bite the bullet and get an Apple. They’re expensive but I thought about how many computers that had bit the dust on me and when I added it all up I realized that I should have bought the Apple in the first place. I’ve switched from a PC and never looked back.

  24. Linda says:

Good luck with the computer trouble. Most all of us have been there. Not a fun place. Will be awaiting your return.

  25. KentuckyFarmGirl says:

  26. Kristi of Million Dream Mom says:

oh no!! I’m a pretty new reader and already I am addicted to your blog! My day doesn’t feel the same without it, lol.

I guess maybe this is the time for me to go hunt down one of your books instead ๐Ÿ˜‰

  27. Leah says:

Goodness! Puter problems are as bad as car trouble…I hate when that happens!

  28. Nancy in Atlanta says:

Yeek – I’m so sorry!!! If Mean Rooster didn’t cause the problem, maybe you can sic him on Laptop to threaten it?

  29. Darlene says:

What’s with these computers? Why do they crash? That’s my question. Here’s hoping it’s something simple and fixable.

Perhaps mean rooster is really the “Godfather” and had someone take out the lap top. After all, there’s been a lot of “frying” talk going on here, lol.

  30. Debbie in Memphis says:

    Miss you, Suzanne! Good luck!!

  31. Susan says:

Good luck, Suzanne! There should be a law against computer breakdowns.

  32. catslady says:

You will be back tomorrow won’t you????

  35. Michelle says:

:sheep: MOST FRUSTRATING! I hope it all works out okay and you get back on the computer. I don’t know what I would do without mine. I know, pathetic..but true!

  36. Cranberry says:

Weeel, oprah’s doing a show on 2 families who gave up all their technology for an entire week, and THEY are whining! :sheep: YOu get to spend

  39. Claudia W. says:

It’s like losing your right arm and big toe on your left foot when the computer goes down…man I hate when that happens. I am wishing you big wishing wells of luck. With your good karma, it should be up and running sooner than you can wink an eye!

  40. Nita in South Carolina says:

I think that rooster gave you a virus. Does the henhouse have wifi?

  41. heidiannie says:

Sorry to hear about your computer problems. It is so frustrating to have your lifeline closed down without any warning. I hope it is just a small glitch rather than you needing a new laptop.
I just wanted to commiserate a little and say that I miss you!

  42. Ms E says:

Technology is a wonderful thing…until it goes AWOL! Good luck, I hope you’re back soon.
