The Beast Within is an RT Reviewers’ Choice nominee for Best SIM of 2005! I had no idea until someone told me. I even have the February RT but all I did was check the review for Deep Blue and I was so distracted by it being a TOP PICK (!!!) that I didn’t look at anything else in the magazine. So of course I had to drag it back out and admire my name on the awards nomination page. 
The last time one of my books was nominated for an RT award, I didn’t know until after the RT convention and they’d already announced the winners. I hadn’t won, so I found out I was nominated and that I lost in the same minute. That made it easier somehow….. It was an honor just to be nominated. I didn’t have to waste a moment thinking about whether I’d win or not and how to bribe the appropriate people. Of course, I won’t spend any time thinking about that now, either.
