No, we didn’t, darn it! But the guestbook in the house is full of entries from houseguests here who say the wild horses are often around the deck here in the early mornings and late evenings, so this was me out looking for them this morning, but no luck so far. Maybe tomorrow! Lots of people said they saw dolphins, too. When I’m not reading or walking the beach with the kids and the dogs, I’ll be watching!
It’s beautiful here! The house is the perfect size for us. We’re at the very northern tip of the Outer Banks, with a wildlife refuge just a mile up the beach. There are no roads here–the road ends and we drove eight miles up the beach to the house, which makes it very quiet and deserted. I’m in heaven!
Last night we had shrimp and scallops, and today I’m off to the seafood markets to buy more. I hope I don’t get stuck in the sand…….. Beach driving freaks me out a little.
The kids had to immediately get in the ocean, of course. And the dogs are so thrilled! They love the beach! And they have been very good. When we’re at the house, we can keep them on the deck–there is a gate at the end of the walkway–and when we go down to the beach, we just let them run around with us.
The kids checked out the hot tub right away, too.:yes:
This is one of my favorite spots–at the end of the walkway from the house there is a dune deck where I can sit right over the beach and watch the kids playing in the water. So relaxing. Great spot for reading, too.

with envy. I need a vacation. Oh, :wall: that’s right I live a block from the beach. I need to get my butt down there asap and get in the ocean. I love the ocean! Glad you’re having a good time. If you get up at say 5ish you might find some prime seashells and see those horses.:hissyfit: Nobody told me about the horses when I was in the OB.
