A Beautiful Week

This is a gorgeous week here with spring-like temperatures. It’s supposed to hit the upper 60s and maybe even 70 (!!!) before the week is out. I let the hens out of the chicken house this morning. They peered out and clucked amongst themselves before deciding walking past the eagerly waiting roosters was worth their first day out in months. The pool is starting to thaw in the chicken yard and the ducks will be happy enough with that. Glory Bee has been running back and forth across the goat yard. The mommies and babies in the goat house spend most of their time on the porch, enjoying the nice air and the streaks of sunshine that come across the porch at certain times of the day.

It’s not spring, but it is fabulous nonetheless. Winter will be back, but we’ll take this little Spring orientation week while we can!!

The chickens look so happy there in the grass. I’ll bet you forgot what the ground looked like as we did here in Northeast Kansas. Snow begone!

Hurray for a brief spring break!

I’m hoping it’s here to stay.

  4. Yankee Gal says:

You are so lucky – I am so envious! They’re saying we may get some of that warmth later this week and are prediciting it may get from 38 to 42 degrees by Friday. WhooHoo :snoopy: ! Heat wave!

  5. Michelle says:

Oh, so you’ve got the nice weather? I’m glad somebody does! 😉

Seriously though, we’ve had 5 baby goats and 7 bunnies born this week, and now they’re talking about snow. I’m going to be up fussing over babies all night for the next few days – uhg! Apparently the weather gods have not noticed that my animals seem to think it’s spring.

  6. Teri says:

In the Black Hills yesterday we hit 70 at our house. The animals were thrilled to see the ground and we were thrilled to watch the ice disappear. Living here we know we have our two snowiest months yet in March and April but just to have the windows open and air out the house is such a treat!

  7. Julia says:

When you had all the snow, in Northern California we had the spring weather. Now the tables are turned. You have spring and we have 6 inches of snow and more on the way. Crazy weather.

  8. Melinda from Southwest Washington says:

Snowing here on the northern shores of the Pacific Ocean. Temperature is 38 degrees. Love the picture of the chickens grazing.

  9. Miss Becky says:

it’s nice here too. I see your chickens have a bit of green there to enjoy! it’s a nice respite from the clutches of winter, but you’re right Suzanne, Spring is a bit of a ways off yet.

Maybe Punxsatawny Phil was right after all – early Spring!

    We can only hope :chicken:

  11. Dianna says:

Just enough springtime weather to spoil us…. Maybe we’ll have an early spring this year. I think everyone’s ready for that!

Mid-70’s by Friday in South Carolina. I’m just afraid everything is going to start to bloom and then we’ll have another frost! Winter can’t be over in mid-February. Don’t bloom peaches!!

  13. GrammieEarth says:

I wonder if winter is showing its reprieve or if spring is showing its preview. Either way…ENJOY! I hope those temps are headed northeast!

  14. Kat says:

I love this weather, open the windows and let some fresh air into the house–I am living in the springtime in my mind!

  16. Janice Jewett says:

My chickens go out almost every day in the winter unless its below 15 degrees or its snowing I just keep there outside pen shoveled. We’re suppose to be up in the 30’s this week and I’m excited for that.

  17. Myrna Mackenzie says:

Tomorrow it’s going to be 60 degrees in Chicago and I love it (although if you’re having snow on the west coast, you have my sincere sympathy. I hope it melts soon). I think we need these little mini-breaks just to help us get through to the end. I’ll bet the animals are as excited as children!

  18. Blessings says:

Today was sunny and a wonderful 50 degrees…A welcome Surprise here in Michigan..

It was beautiful here yesterday, as well! I’m sure it was much cooler than there but I’ll take 50 degrees in February for northern Indiana!

  20. Runningtrails says:

Much warmer weather here too! Wouldn’t it be nice if winter didn’t come back? We can always hope 🙂

  21. Donna Stone says:

We’ve been blessed with the warmer weather too , but it’s a bit windy today!
