A Bit of Happy News

Dr. Pepper, left, and Fanta’s little brown one.

Fanta’s little brown one really needs a name as we are planning to keep her. (We were actually planning to sell the little black one, mostly because she was such an identical twin to Fanta. I’m only keeping a select number of does, so I want to mix up the colorings of the ones we keep. Feel free to suggest names for the little brown one!) But–this post is about one of my other “kids”–the human kind. I just found out that Weston is now a National Merit Finalist!

I still don’t know whether or not he will receive the scholarship. Some of the finalists get the scholarship and some don’t. It may be several more months before we know. (The National Merit program is a pretty long, drawn-out process.)

Congratulations to Weston – great job! I think a good name would be “Squirt”.

  2. judydee says:

Congratulations, Weston!! And Suzanne!! I will be keeping my fingers crossed (and toes too if it will help). Let us know as soon as the scholarship is announced (thinking positive) so I can uncross my toes.

  3. Abiga/Karen says:

    :woof: Way to go!!!!! Congrats!

  4. Linda Goble says:

Congratulations to Weston. Whoo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!! As for a name of little brown one, well you have one name Nutmeg, maybe Ginger or Cinnamon, or how about Lavender or Sage.

  5. Deanna says:

How about RC? Dr, Pepper looks like he is thinking “Me and my RC”…

Congrats to Weston, and to you! Sending positive thoughts your way.

  6. Melissa Marsh says:

How about Gumption? Did you ever see the movie, The Holiday, with Kate Blanchett and Jude Law? The retired screenwriter talks about gumption. Love that word.

CONGRATS to your son and to you! That is such wonderful news!

  7. Jeanne says:

  10. twoturkey says:

:woof: Congratulations to Weston on becoming a National merit Finalist. Such an honor.
I would pick Moxie also for a name. A favorite soda pop here in Maine.

    Mrs. Turkey

  11. texwisgirl says:

Fanta’s little brown one reminds me of a root beer float – so how about “Sassafras” (the main ingredient of root beer flavor) – “Sass” for short.

  12. Anita says:

Shasta is another soda name I don’t think I’ve seen here.

  13. bonita del rey says:

Fresh out of name ideas, But heartfelt congratulation to Weston. Even if National Merit people don’t come across with $$, there are others who use the National Merit Finalist as a criterion for their own dispersal of monies.

So many good names! I have to admit I like Sassafras, and Ginger(ale), and I’d forgotten all about Shasta, we used to have that in Ohio too. Frosty was a favorite brand of Root Beer when I was a kid too! Lots of other good ones like Tab, Moxie, Macchiato is great too, but should it be Macchiata since it’s a girl? I don’t know about those rules in Italian words. Maybe it would lead to a new line of coffee related names!

Nilla, for Nilla (vanilla) wafers? Hey, it’s a cookie thing! Sugar is cute, but she’s brown and you don’t want to go with Brown Sugar, cause that would get abbreviated to BS and that’s not so good. ๐Ÿ˜†

  21. Momto2 says:

What about Yoo Hoo,, That chocolate drink in a can!

  22. Ramona says:

That’s fantastic to hear. Good luck Weston!

Vernors! I’m from Detroit originally and it’s my favorite ginger-ale. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernors

Now about that precious little brown baby – I think she looks like a root beer float – dark on the bottom & lighter brown and frothy on the top. I thought about “Black Cow” since that’s A&W’s float, but calling a goat “cow” might give her a complex. So how about A&W? Or Cappuccino – and call her Cappy.
