A Long Gestation

This is Rotunda (aka Nutmeg). She’s been pregnant for approximately a year and a half. Or at least that’s how long she’s looked like this. We’re expecting her to deliver any year now.

Or blow up.

Seriously, she eats just the same as all the other goats. She claims it’s her thyroid…..

P.S. I don’t really think Nutmeg is pregnant.
P.P.S. I don’t really think she has a thyroid problem.
P.P.P.S. I don’t really think she’s going to blow up.
P.P.P.P.S. But she might!

See I Love My Babies! today at Farm Bell Recipes.

And don’t miss my latest Charleston Daily Mail column here.

  1. Nancy in Iowa says:

It’s all those cookies she steals from her Mom.

  2. Heidi says:

maybe water bloat? all of the goats, included my goat Gilligan, got “watered” the morning of the county fair by a well-meaning young individual who shouldn’t have been allowed in the goat pens, and that’s what they looked like! It was a scandal in the ag barn.

  3. Shelley (eastern Roane County) says:

Suzanne that is too funny. My little Ginger who would be Nutmegs first cousin looks JUST like that and is the only one of my little Nigerians that does. She is also my most petite Nigerian in stature and frame. I’m hoping that means good milking ability someday.

  4. Karen Anne says:

How about asking that visiting vet the next time he’s by whats with Nutmeg?

(Still hoping for happy duck pictures.)

  5. Yvonne says:

“She claims it’s her thyroid” — OMG, I almost spit out my coffee when I read that. That’s way too funny Suzanne. :happyflower:

  6. auntbear says:

Girth perhaps related to gingerbread nutritional supplements?

  7. Kathy in KY says:

LOLOLOLOL – OMGosh, AuntBear – you are hilarious – I spit out my raspberry drink when I read your reply – thanks so much. And I agree with Yvonne – so she claims it’s her thyroid – BWAAHHH! Thanks for making my evening everyone!

  8. Shirley Corwin says:

I think you’re embarrassing her. She says it’s her thyroid, lets go with that : ))

  9. KentuckyFarmGirl says:

After the 4th of July meal I had yesterday, I’m blaming mine on my thyroid too! We’ll just stick with that story Nutmeg!
