  11. Janet says:

Woo-hoo! I’m happy for you. I remember when mine went out, luckily we had a repairman who knew how to fix it without replacing anything. I bought one of your book on the kindle, it was a lot of fun to read. And I loved that the little girls nickname was Birdie, so sweet!

  12. Barbee' says:

What a relief! I imagine that living without it felt like having one arm tied behind you. Now, back to normal at last. Did you watch how he did it, so you can fix it yourself next time? I bet you could. One of our daughters has fixed a few things and it amazed me. She went on line and found which part was needed for that model number, then ordered it and put it in herself. She’s quite the penny pincher. I wish I could remember what she repaired so I could list them. Also, wish there is a replacement part for worn out memories.

  13. Drucillajoy says:

I’ll bet that seems good to have your stove back in use! What was his tattoo of on his neck?

  14. Jenny says:

You must be so happy to have your oven back, but I have admired your creativity with baking in the crockpot.

  16. Nancy says:

Yeah! What was the neck tattoo??? I hope he didn’t have a “carpenters crack” to go with it! hahahaha

  17. Diane Edwards says:

I’m pleased that my suggestion to call Joe Sparks at Maytag was helpful. On my original post, there was a typo for my last name, it’s “Edwards” not “Edwars,” so maybe Joe won’t know it was me who sent you to him! It seems that there is a concensus that today’s appliances, big and small, are subpar. Everything is computerized, and those parts wear out quickly and are darned expensive to replace, which is why many people opt to replace rather than repair. My father bought a two-slice toaster after WWII, and he used it for 50 years. We, however, seem to have to buy a new toaster every 2-3 years, and we don’t use it every day like my father did. In addition to the major problems with the Maytag refrigerator I outlined in my first post, we had a GE gas dryer that caught on fire after two years, due to a design flaw (the felt around the drum ignited). Fortunately, I was home at the time, so I was able to turn off the gasline, spray the flames with the fire extinguisher, and then drag it out to the driveway and finish the job with the garden hose. The entire house could have exploded if I hadn’t been there, due to the gas leading to the dryer and the water heater, which is also in the laundry room.

    Anyway, happy baking!!

  18. Ruth says:

Hip hip Hooray! Can you bake us all something now please?
Is that tattoo a male version of a tramp stamp? Ewwww :shimmy:

  19. Conny says:

For this I am happy, happy that you have a working oven again. We know how you missed it so. The adventures of crockpot baking were helpful to your readers though. Much appreciated.
