The chickens have been laying like crazy! Good thing. I need the eggs. Getting ready for this week’s wool retreat and herbals workshop here. LauraP, my co-teacher, will be arriving today and I feel as crazy as a chicken!

Oh My, what beautiful eggs, the colors are so pretty. I remember when I lived on my Grandparents farm helping my Oma gather eggs, she let me use the basket and she gathered up her apron and put eggs in there, what wonderful memories.

Beautiful. Speaking of memories, my grandmother use to gather eggs in her apron too, and garden produce, kittens, flowers, apples, wipe a face, use it as a hot pad. An apron was a multi-purpose tool. She sold eggs from the farm, but only the white ones. People wouldn’t buy brown eggs. Wonder what they would have thought of green and blue eggs? They were some how inferior/low class eggs. Now days the grocery store charges more for the brown ones and the white ones are the lowly ones.
I was allowed to gather the eggs in the evening. One of the times I got in the most trouble with her was when I gathered the eggs and decided to make Easter eggs for Granny by using the mulberries to die them. They were quite pretty but not she couldn’t sell them. Never did that again. lol

I have a friend who is 102 and she won’t eat brown eggs either. She grew up on a farm and should know better!!! 😆
