Calf on the brain here! Sometimes I just have to go the barn and pet her. So far, she still likes me. I have an advantage this go-round because I’ve got a barn. The calf can’t get away from me, ha.
Milking report: I hooked Glory Bee up to the machine today for the first time. She didn’t kick! Well, not until the very end as I was taking the last one off, but she had run out of food by then anyway. I was amazed! She’s going to be a fabulous milk cow!
She already eagerly waits for me when she sees me go into the milking stall, ready to charge into her stand and get her goodies!

Cows enjoy getting milked. Especially once they associate grain with milking time. Once the initial tenderness of their teats and udder subside (normal right after calving or if they get mastitis) it actually feels good to them to get milked out. Such a relief for them to get rid of about 30 pounds or more of milk.
You might have to get a piglet to eat all the excess milk and whey though.

Love your new baby! I have been reading your blog forever and I must say I think it would be a great setting for a cozy mystery series aka Paige Sheldon or Shelia Connelly. You certainly have more than enough “characters” to keep us guessing.
