Crooked Little Layer

The Crooked Little Hen deposits one of her lovely football-shaped blue eggs here every day near the back door. It’s handy, if I can get to it before Casper! (She lays the PRETTIEST eggs of all.)

Maybe when the hosta gets larger it will camoflage her nesting site and give you a better chance of egg retrieval! :chicken:

  2. holstein woman says:

Ellie picked up eggs like that when she first came here and I told her to drop it and she had never picked up another. There could be hope for Casper. Do you suppose some chicken wire in the corner where only a hen could get in and out would work? A small amount would not look too bad and still protect the egg.

So please that the crooked little hen is okay :o)
    How’s Coco doing Suzanne?

  4. Merino Mama says:

No egg dying necessary at your house, eh? I just love the crooked little hen. :chicken:

What a sweetie for delivering breakfast to the back door!
Just so long as she doesn’t try to provide breakfast in bed – that might get a wee bit too cozy!

She likes a pretty room, too! :happybutterfly:

  8. Jane L says:

Too think they dismissed this hen as unworthy due to her beak deformity. Well, she sure showed everyone! I am glad she’s got a good life with you.

  9. Diane says:

Catray44 I agree with you. This little hen sure is lucky. I like her she makes me smile when I see a story or photo of her. 🙂

Thank you for the update on Coco Suzanne, hope she’s soon healed enough to come home – she’s got a lot of changes to catch up with!
