Crooked Little Thief

In case anyone’s wondering–she’s still on the porch. The Crooked Little Hen is always on the alert for me to bring dog food. When I walk outside, she comes thump-thump-thump running as fast as her little feet will carry her. If I don’t have dog food with me, she saunters off. If I do have dog food, she jumps right in the dish.

Coco, the Giant Guardian Pup, is on the job, protecting her turf……..

Ha, my chickens do the same thing, except with cat food. We kept finding them on the front porch, eating it up. We finally had to clip their wings to keep them from flying out of the backyard. Funny girls.

Oh, good, it’s nice to have a Crooked Little Hen update; we haven’t seen her for a while. Coco is a mellow soul, isn’t she?

  9. Linda Goble says:

Does the dogs let her eat first? I would think there would be nothing in the bowl when Coco got done eating. So very cute.

  10. Larissa says:

I love it! I have problems with the turkeys coming IN THE HOUSE for the dog food. I love CLH– we have one too-a rescued Easter chick from last year. Her name is Rocky Balboa.

  12. Ramona says:

LOL at Cocoa. The other day my hubby let me know what a good job my guard beagles were doing (NOT). He said they didn’t even quit snoring when he walked down the driveway.

I told him Missy was too tired from staying up and barking all night long…..

  13. Lindsay says:

That hen is one brazen girl!I love Coco completely unconcerned. ‘Pecking order’ just took on a whole new meaning for me. πŸ˜†

  14. Lindsay says:

@Ramona: I grew up with beagles, ours were just as good guard dogs as yours! πŸ˜†

Once when I was little, one of my hamsters got out of it’s cage, we thought it was lost since it’d been gone for about a week. Then one night our girl beagle walked over to my dad, put her muzzle in his hand, and dropped my live, soaking wet, completely unharmed hamster in it. She was just so proud of herself lol! You couldn’t find friendlier dogs if you tried, silly babies. I just love beagles. :sun:

  15. Imperious Fig says:

My own CLH named Crossbeak eats catfood alongside of the cats. I think these birds are smarter than we think! (Mine goes through the dog door into the garage to get the cat food)

Looks as though Coco has given up :chicken:

    Ain’t this the truth!
Sometimes our hens steal our dog’s toys. Our lead hen, a RIR named Fluff is the worst. Once she ran after one of Maddie’s little stuffed toys when I threw it- it was a race between dog & hen. Fluff snatched the toy up in her beak & ran w/it back to the flock so they could have their way with it- all while Maddie watched helplessly. The whole situation looked much like some sort of gang violence scenrio. We laughed so hard.
