Despite the cold, and the rain, and the general dreariness many days, I do believe it is

SPRING!

West Virginia is the land of waterfalls, big and small, and we have numerous small waterfalls on our farm with our hillsides. West Virginia, or at least parts of it, is also the land of old oil/gas pipes, just in case anyone is wondering what the pipes are you see in the video. There are old pipes running everywhere here from the old oil/gas boom days of a century ago.

I’m surprised people don’t sell those unused pipes for scrap.

  2. Nancy in Iowa says:

The video is great – I could listen to that sound all night! In fact, I’m sure I’ll be back.

  3. Tracey In Paradise Pa. says:

Is there anything more soothing than the sound of the water? I’ll need a hammock close by and perhaps a glass of lemondade. Ah spring is here.

  8. brookdale says:

Love the photos and video! It is wonderful to see all the different wildflowers in bloom already. What are the yellow ones in the second photo? Thanks for the insight into spring…it will be here in the North soon I hope.

  9. Linda in New Mexico says:

The plants to the right of the mini waterfall look like Trilliums. The sound reminded me of when I was young and summer nights I would have my bedroom window open and hear the waterfall in the trout pond in the front yard. My dad and I had dug out and then rocked and cemented the creek/pond on the property. At the time I was sure that he was breaking some child labor law, lol. Dad bought trout to stock the pond. There was also the croaking of frogs from the hillside across the country road that ran by the house. Nothing like the chorus of frogs you have….but it was very conducive to sleep.
Ah, those were the days. Dad still lives there.

Brookdale- I believe the yellow blossoms are, Dogwood tree.

  13. mmhoney says:

The second picture is truly DOGWOOD. At first blooming they are greenish and turn white as they mature, Thought you would like to know. Our farm also had red dogwood and orange honeysuckle.

  14. Kris Sherrill says:

Ok, I need that little waterfall outside my bedroom window. It’s so pretty and so mellow. It’s looking like spring here too. Enjoy it. Ya never know what April has planned for tomorrow.

  15. Merlin says:

Too bad I cannot hear anything (profoundly deaf). However, I enjoyed the pictures of spring! :happyflower:

  16. AnnieB says:

Is that redbud in the first picture? I love them so! Thanks for the Spring lift, Suzanne!

  17. CarrieJ says:

I’ve got my sister hooked on this website and she is coming to the retreat!! I am mucho excited!!

  18. joycee says:

Can anything be as peaceful as that little spring, I don’t think so! You are just a little behind us I think. Our dogwoods are in full bloom now and Granny Mountain looks like “snow!”

  19. holstein woman says:

Dogwood was my grandmother’s favorite flower. The only one I ever knew of grew on the mountain above the house at the edge of the woods.
The tranquil water reminds me of home with the dogwood tree in bloom.

  20. Joy (from Illinois) says:

AGRHHH! Torture! We got SNOW last night. The daffodils have started blooming and the trees have budded. I had just bought some pots and had planned on putting in a few more perennials in the flower beds but luckily got too busy with other things. They always say in the Chicago you can’t put in your garden til Memorial Day cause we could always have some snow. They tease you with the first hints of flowers until you think its safe to start planning the garden and then BOOM–a cold front comes down from Canada straight off the Artic. As I said, they torture you with a few warm days, a few flowers, and then rip away your hopes for Spring. :hissyfit:

  21. Ramona says:

    Looks like Spring to me!

  22. Maybeth says:
