I love these firestarters Pete from the goat farm makes. He gave me a bucket of them. They’re wood chips and wax in cupcake liners. Cute! And they work great! (And I always need firestarters!)

I need to make some of these. There are some days when our wood just doesn’t want to start burning even though it’s bone dry…if I could just get hubby to cut some a bit smaller it would help! At least these fire starters would make things a little easier and those little muffin cup ones look almost good enough to eat!! :hungry2:

We used to make them with scrap beeswax and chips from our woodpile. Melt wax, add chips, and when cooled slightly, pour onto wax paper in “piles”.

I guess a bag of wood chips intended for hamster cages would work if that is all one could find. What a nice gift you received, Suzanne.

I bed you could add some dry herbs for fragrance while you’re starting your fire too. Though the smoke may overwhelm….hmmmm

I made some firestarters from cardboard egg containers. Tried 2 recipes. 1- I added wood shavings (from hubby’s mess), dryer lint, some shredded newspaper and topped with paraffin wax. 2- We just put in wood shavings, newspaper, and paraffin wax (or wax scraps). We cut the egg carton apart. The boys and I took one egg holder each out to the fire pit to test em out. One match to light the egg carton cup and they each burned for 10 MINUTES! 😮 The one with lint burned a little more intensely at first, but both were very comparable. So even a single egg cup from an egg carton works wonders I tell ya. I’ll be making more of these!

oh, the wax was melted and poured into the egg cups over the wood shavings, lint, and newspaper. Didn’t add that into the previous post. 😕
