When asked where we live in the comments yesterday on the post about the Chickens in the Road 2010 party, I responded, “Marianne, Roane County,” meaning I was addressing the person, Marianne and telling her that we live in Roane County. Several people took this to mean that we live in Marianne, Roane County, as in Marianne, West Virginia. Marianne, a town. (I’m not actually sure there is a town in WV called Marianne. I googled it and didn’t find anything!) Anyway–we do not live in a town called Marianne! We live in Walton, West Virginia, which is in Roane County, about 45 minutes north of Charleston, West Virginia.

I s’ppose that you’ve been asked this before, but is that “Walton”, as in “Good Night, Johnboy?”

  2. Marianne G says:

OMG! I’m sorry I started so much fuss, but I got to say, I have never laughed so hard when I saw this post. To think I just asked a simple question and now I’ve seen my name over and over again. What a great start to my birthday today! :sun:

  3. Sharon says:

Haha! That’s my bad! Happy Birthday Marianne!

  4. Cousin Sheryl says:

The “Walton’s Mountain” that was the basis for the TV show is actually in the state of Virginia. No, we are NOT the location for the show. (And, yes, we do get asked that a lot.)
