Love the photo. I have not been allowed to take a first day of school pic for the last 2 years. I might have to this year. I got a 10th grader. A reality check in that the high school will be over in 3 short years. And each passing day makes it shorter then that. We start school next tuesday. So I have a few more days left to spend summer with my kid. While she is ready to go back to school. I am not ready to send her back just yet. lol. I am one of the few parents who enjoy spending the summer with my kid. 🙂

oh how I hated to give my children back to the school bus every fall- we so enjoyed the summers-but alas they were more ready then I to go back. The last few years I got the pics of the first day by hiding behind the barn or big tree or even once was banished to the inside of the house!! But I got my pictures!!! :smilerabbit: :purpleflower:

Mine started high school on Monday. I’m both so proud of the beautiful young woman she’s becoming and so sad that my little girl is gone. Why can’t I have them both?

What is that yellow bar that is pointed at Morgan’s knees? Is it attached to the school bus somehow? I’ve never seen that before.
Thanks,
Julia

Suzanne McMinn says:
Yes, it is attached to the bus. Whenever the bus stops and children are boarding, the bar comes out. It prevents children from walking too closely in front of the bus where the driver might not see them. It’s to prevent accidents.

Yes, thank you, that makes perfect sense. I wonder why we don’t have them here? I can think of a tragic accident in the past few years that a bar like that would have prevented.

I was reading everyones comments and I see everyones kids just started school. Is this an east coast thing? I live in Arizona and my kids started school on August 10th they postponed the first day of school. They wanted to start it on the 5th. I hate that school starts in the middle of summer. When I was a kid we never started until after Labor Day. We are so pressed for time in the summer to do something as a family when school starts so quickly.

I live in Missouri and my kids started school August 17th. It seems to get earlier every year.

I like being with my kids so much I just homeschooled them! lol We’ve dealt with a variety of learning issues, so it was a good thing I felt so much desire to homeschool. But as all good things must, this is my last year – unless #2 doesn’t get his work finished.
They do grow up awfully fast, don’t they?
