Maia pays no attention to me. She keeps tasting the fake flowers in the wreath on my door.
It’s a rainy day here, but not too cold. Yet. We’re about to get real cold, though. (You?) Thanksgiving week will be good for hanging deer this year….. I’ve got pies in the oven, bread rising, cookie dough in the fridge. Working down my list of Thanksgiving prep and getting ready for family arriving this weekend.
I moved to Sassafras Farm two years ago this week. This is my third Thanksgiving here. I can’t believe it’s been two years. I couldn’t imagine then what my life would be like now, and it continues to change and evolve and sometimes surprise me. Thank you for being here to find out, about the time I do, what’s next!

Colder here, but no snow forecast, yet. Thanksgiving looks sunny, and in the 30’s. Maia is a cutey, even if she is eyeing the fake flowers.

Suzanne, I’ve been roasting turkeys for Thanksgiving for 44 years.I’ve cooked them open pan, tented, bagged, and covered tightly in my old, tried and true blue roasting pan.
I know you’re a very good cook, so I want to ask you this question. What’s your method?
I know there are a lot of young women out here in reader land who’ve never cooked a turkey, and would benefit from tour recipe and instructions. :hungry:

I really don’t do anything super unique when roasting a turkey! I love the oven bags. I always do a big roaster with the turkey in an oven bag. Comes out perfect that way and it’s easy!

Going to be COLD here this weekend, but it’ll put us in the holiday spirit. I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving. Your blog is one of the many things I’m thankful for.

I can hardly believe it’s been two years, either. It’s gone by so quickly.

This is the first Thanksgiving I haven’t wanted to make anything. Usually my Husband doesn’t want any meal because of the work so I don’t do much. Now this year I am making the turkey (butchering and all) and taking it to his daughters. Her mother is going to be there and I have NO enthusiasm for this at all.
Maia is so cute, makes me want goats.
It has been cold here for the last 2 days down to 27 2 nights ago and last night was 33. I hate cold and dry. I’d rather have rain and I used to love snow, but not now since I HAVE to get out in it and feed and work with the animals. If it wasn’t for their needs I wouldn’t go out at all. Thats a lousy attitude for the holidays, sorry. HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Maybe I need to write some Christmas cards and get out of this mood.

That two years have flown by, and so much has happened! You’ve learned a lot, taught a lot and I for one am grateful for your sharing your life with us.
Sounds like a great Thanksgiving will be happening at your home. Believe it or not, I don’t even know what we are doing yet!
