Little Milk Stand in the Woods

Look at that! Beulah Petunia has new quarters in the works.

Way back (like, last week) when we thought BP wasn’t going to have her baby until mid-October or early November, we started planning and preparing her a place closer to the house, with all intentions of having her moved up here before the Blessed Event. Then she took us by surprise.

BP needs to be near the house for several reasons, not the least of which is that this winter, there’s no way, no how that I will be able to milk her down there–and get the milk back to the house–when the driveway is under a foot of snow. I also need to keep a closer eye on the baby, and I just, well, I JUST NEED MY COW HERE. So work has been going on double-time this weekend to finish the preparations.

Look how close BP’s new milk stand (and fenced area) is to the house.

It’s just past the chicken house.

Imagine! BP and Glory Bee right here! I can walk right out and pet that baby any time I want. And bring the milk up to the house in a few steps. And pet that baby any time.

And pet that baby any time.

AND PET THAT BABY ANY TIME.

I can’t wait!

  3. Grammie Earth says:

It almost looks like Glory Bee has longer legs than her Mama! Can you give her a pet and a kiss (or forty) just for me?
So glad they are now close to your home! I was wondering how your winter might have been otherwise….

  4. Brenda E says:

That baby is so darn cute and I just love BP’s eyes. She looks so kind and sweet like a doe. I would love to pet that baby too. You did a good job with the milking stand. That will be so much better for you in the snow. Does BP and Glory Bee have shelter to go into when the weather is bad or do cows just not mind the snow?

  5. skippymom says:

They just have a look on their faces like “Who is the crazy lady with the clicky thing and why is she stalking us?” hee

  6. Rose H says:

  14. Rosanne says:

Suzanne, you will have Glory Bee and BP so spoiled, they will be in the house if they have the chance. Don’t you just love mommy and baby with the sweetest eyes you ever saw. It sure makes me want a milk cow again. You were really lucky that BP was so gentle when you got her. I have a feeling that Glory Bee will be just as gentle. I can’t imagine why, can you?

  15. Vicki in So. CA says:

Wow. This is great! You’ll be able to see them from the porch. And from your bedroom window! BP and GB. Oh, yes. I almost forgot. When you go out to milk Beaulah, you might want to take a minute and PET THAT BABY! ๐Ÿ˜†

  16. Norma says:

Help, help, help!! I love your blog and read it daily, first thing each day. I saw the wonderful vidio clip of the baby goats butting each other off the board and wanted to show it to my husband but now I can’t find it. I have tried everything I know. Can you help me? ๐Ÿ˜‰ Norma

  17. ellen mcbryde says:

I want to pet the baby too!

  18. Michelle says:

Oh they are so cute together. I just want to nuzzle that little nose!

  19. Barbee' says:

Really great that BP is so easy going. Maybe she enjoys the new views, etc. the way some people like to rearrange the furniture. I’m sure it is more entertaining to be closer to the house, dogs, goats, cats, chicks, and all.
