you forgot to mention the lightning bugs =o) it looks and sounds so peaceful…curious, do you have mosquito’s there? my ONLY reason for not sitting outside and enjoying the night sounds in my own yard!

yes, we have mosquitoes. I don’t get bothered by them much. Maybe because I have chickens.

Lucky you. I wish we had them here. But we don’t have any woods-only the trees that grow along the river. We listen to the great horned owls and screech owls.

I love that sound. We used to have whippoorwills here, but no more. I have read that they are ground nesting birds, and there are many cats in this area.

love that sound. and fortunately I don’t have mosquitos because I have bats that live in the many trees that keep the mosquito away. Much better than chemical spray.

I, too, love the sound of whippoorwills, but haven’t heard any in quite some time. They were all around us when I was a kid in Florida.
